A deflated ball may be a lil easier to catch but it is harder to throw...the referee touches the ball before and after every snap and didn't notice anything wrong...Jackson who has 8 picks in 9 years somehow notices the ball is 2lbs short? Or the equipment manager just by chance squeezed a ball after the play was over? Regardless IF it was intentional it was stupid and unecessary no matter how close the game was but I'm sure us M drivers know how temprature can affect air pressure In a tire...yes spygate happened and the pats will always be notorious for that but don't be so naive as to think the patriots invented videoing defensive signals...they were just the ones to get caught...you can find dirt anywhere if you look for it

Penalty should be inflate the Super Ball by 2 pounds over the regulation and see if they win the Super Bowl. Let see if Brady smiles continue...

My take...

Is the Officials job to check balls so if there were any deflated balls, they didnt do their jobs.

The deflated 1-2lbs measured is equal to a weight of a dollar bill

College football and nfl QBs all have their preference in their balls...this is nothing new

Could it be that the person who handle the balls made a human error?

Could someone paid him or commanded him to deflate?

Maybe someone acted on their own to deflate the balls. A Pats hater or a Pats fan that thought he can help

Could the equipment used to measure the balls was defective causing low pressure?

Rules are rules and is cheating, but Pats score more pts after the refs changed the balls in the 2nd half...so the deflated balls wasnt an advantage

Just saying

I dont understand why the NFL somewhat made a big deal out of this (indirectly). They could of easily cover this up. Dont get me wrong, if the pats cheat then they should be punished but something this small is causing so much issues for the superbowl, players/teams, and the fans. Why piss of your NFL fans. If you're willing to try cover up Ray Rice incident why not cover-up a small issue and say there're nothing wrong with the balls.

Bill Belichick said this morning that they will use the proper inflation from now on to prevent future NFL investigation. LOL

To be fair, this is what I got

Belichick
(Short version, you can read the entire coverage)
"I had no knowledge of the various steps involved with the game balls,"
"Quarterbacks, kickers have preferences," "I hear them comment on it. There is never any sympathy from me on that subject. Tom's personal preferences on footballs are something he can talk about in better detail. [It's more than] I can possibly provide."
"I have never talked to any player, staff member about football air pressure," "To me, the footballs are approved by game officials, and we play with whats out there."
"Any deflation would take us under specification limit," "In the future, we will certainly inflate footballs above that low level to account for possible change... we will take steps in future to make sure we dont put ourselves in that situation again."

I think it is quite funny how big of a deal everyone is making of this.

While I feel the Pats should suffer the consequences of cheating (again), it would not have made much/if any difference in the game. Colts didn't show up to play, and got their asses handed to them. Was sad to see, but, was almost expected.

My take... they need to look closer at Tom Brady. He's likely the person who wanted the balls deflated. I think its possible Belichek knew nothing about the PSI of the footballs, although as head of the team, he will be responsible.

Fair enough, but a QB at this level whom played in inclement weather all his career will need to cheat air pressure to win???

There is no other position on the field that a deflated ball would affect more than the guy throwing it. The kickers get their own K-balls. Why would Belichek give a crap what the pressure is of the football? ... I'm sure he's got more important shit to worry about.

Anyway, Tommy boy's press conference is coming up in a few minutes... sounds like he'll take the fall for this. What a dope!

if brady said he couldnt feel the football deflated then he is striaght up bsing. i am a casual basketball player, if the ball is deflated or inflated in any way, i can tell right away. brady is an all time great, he does this for a living. not saying this made much of a difference vs the colts, cuz the colts got a beat down. lol

Don't forget it was 40 degrees that night, raining and he has no glove on his throwing hand...

Ball boys deflate balls for every team. Each team gets 12 balls they have 10 mins refs locker room to do what ever the fuck they want with them to get the balls ready for the players. Then the balls gets returned to the refs for checking. If it passes it goes into play. Ball deflating happens on sideline by ball boys. N it happens to every team.

Deflated balls may provide an advantage to the QB, but in the context of this past game, let's be honest...the Colts scored 7 points and LeGarrette Blount accounted for 3 rushing TDs. Unless we're going to argue that the lighter balls made it easier for Blount to carry the ball, then the outcome wouldn't have changed.

I know people are going to say cheating is cheating and I tend to agree, but the Pats would/should still be in the Super Bowl.

My buddy has been a former ball boy for the Pats for 7 years (high school to College). Going to keep him anonymous. I just wanted to share my info to my fellow Bimmer lovers.

Agreed. I heard some jokes on the radio about it, everyone is saying he's lying.

Either way, it wouldn't have mattered and they still would have won. Not saying they shouldn't be punished in some way if the investigation turns out to be against them, but some people are saying they should be taken out of the game. Why? No one would watch the Seahawks destroy the Colts in a joke of a Superbowl. At least with the Patriots it will be competitive.
