Did BMW ever release an Air Intake for the 135i?
The Performance parts brochure left out the 135i Air intake, was one ever released? If not, does anyone know of a decent alternative?

Nope. As you said, from what I remember in the brochure it said 128 only, and I think Dan, the chap from a BMW dealer over in the States confirmed this the other day.
Moff's got the BMS intake and seems to like it. I think there was supposed to be a new BMS dual cone intake and a Vishnu one also. From pretty much everything I've read, at anything less than serious bhp levels the intake isn't a restriction, so no real power gains. Although the noise is supposed to be much better |

Ok, thanks, you would have thought BMW would have said why they haven't released one.
I'll hang on then and see what emerges....

I'll try to find the post, but I'm pretty sure Dan mentioned that BMW weren't getting any power increases with the performance intake, and when the engine was warmed up, they were losing power.
If that's the case, then I can't seen anyone wanting to shell out several hundred for an admittedly cool looking intake, unless they happen to have had a transparent bonnet installed so you can actually see the thing! Not wanting to hijack the thread, but just wanted to ask how the Superchip is going. Still happy? Want even more power now that you've had a taste of the good life?! |

The Superchip is great, I've had no issues whatsoever with it (touch wood).
The only thing to keep in mind is that with the chip then engine is fussy over the type of fuel you put in. Octane 97 or above is fine. Put anything lower in, and you will see the acceleration degrade. I'd like a beefier sounding intake and exhausts now, but am happy to see what develops. I couldn't throw away a perfect exhaust to make way for the performance one, not until it's worn out anyway.

Ah well, if there's not much improvement in performance, then I won't bother.
Thanks

BMS is cool, sounds amazing and really enhances the standard 'noise'.
I am waiting for the Riss Racing intake as I have heard good things. Not sure about the BMS dual cone, as there really isn't that much difference between the single and dual. Listen to this cheezy noob on YouTube The review is iffy, but you will hear th sound.

I can hear it alright but it's not a massive difference to what the 135i sounds already. I think I will wait until the exhausts rust off then get the performance ones instead.

The sucking / whooshing noise from 2k to 4k rpm is the best bit, under full acceleration its not as obvious.
It's just fun being a chav driving through town at 2k to 4k ;-)
