In Limbo: $1000 deposit

I don't have an order, a number of any kind nor have I signed any papers. All I have is a receipt for the the money as a "partial downpayment. He assures me that they are getting one. Am I at risk of not getting one? As of now he says he has no allocation from BMW yet, but looks every day for me.....

If your dealer is being honest with you, and you are first on their list, you should have nothing to worry about. Word is, all dealers are suppose to get at least one M coupe.

I'm in the same place. I have a dealer's 1st allocation, put money down a month ago and he submitted the order to BMW. I don't have a production number or anything to show for it beyond a receipt for the money down. I have faith but I'm definitely nervous without a number to show for it.

I'm told I'll have one in the next few days.

Next few days! I hope that's the same for me. I'm preparing for along wait. It'll be worth it.

I'm in a similar position. Dealership told me last week they think they're getting their allocation in the next few days. Hopefully we are getting far enough into the production run that the lower priority dealerships will start getting their allocations.

The funny thing is that I'd love the latest delivery possible! I'm sitting in the airport getting ready to head overseas until December. According to the dealer I should expect my car in October. That means my baby will be sitting in my garage [I'm having it delivered from out of state to CA and will have a friend take delivery at my place] for 2-3 months with about 10 miles on the clock.

Needless to say I'll be making a "what precautions should I take?" thread on letting my baby sit when the date draws near.
