You can then go and add the navigation, dual-clutch transmission, 20 speakers, leather everything, sun-roof, full powered seats, etc. All of those options and amenities will add more than 200-300 additional pounds to the car. But it will be the daily driver car that you've been craving for. Not the 1M.
Whats wrong with having a 1M as a daily driver?

I doubt most options add that much weight. A person being over 200 lbs is more of a weight compromise in the car than most options.

I'm pretty sure most options end up being a few sensors and wires that hook up to iDrive. More things to go wrong? Sure. A lot more weight? Probably better off going on a diet than removing options to save weight.

I dont think that matters much in this case. Its not exactly a Corolla. Ironically, Merc E320's have a higher resale than E550's. The 550's even have a few things other than the more potent motor. Go figure.

One must think, at what point does them cutting weight cost more money for BMW. I'm of the belief that the M3 has the same adaptive xenon lighting as a normal 3. Same case with this 1er. Does BMW even have stationery xenons in production anymore? I would not think so. That part of the assembly would have to be retooled for such a tiny margin of cars. Its quite wasteful in the grand scheme of things.

It sure is, BMW is still a luxury brand even at entry level model like 1series. There is an handful enthusiast like us that doesn't care about options but more the feeling. We are still minority

It looks crazy... From looking at the zips - the mirror, the interior and driver's door, the side vents, and the rear diffuser would be shown before the full monty.

So, she's taken of her jacket showing her clevage, what's going to be next?

I did get a response of, "how much more would it cost?"...which means she's considering it! Hmmm...low miles 135 (about 5400 now)...lots of options...trade in for a low option 1M...hmmmm
