exhaust/DP recs?

okay so my birthday is coming up so i decided that i should have a "birthday mod"... Im currently running a JB+ and was thinking about upgrading to the Cobb AP but I'm pretty satisfied with the power right now so i decided to put the cobb off until next summer. Im leaning towards an exhaust OR downpipes... Which would give me more of volume increase. I want people to hear me coming not that I'm an attention whore, just want the car to sound as fast as it is. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, either for DPs or exhausts. I have about a 1000 dollars to spend

Downpipes would provide more performance output than a catback, but a catback will provide more sound. I was in the same situation and I went with downpipes mated to stock exhaust. Its a little bit louder exhaust wise, but the increased throttle response and improved midrange torque is outstanding IMO.

Honestly?

- Golf Tee Mod $0
- COBB $800
- Gas $200

That's how I would play it out. For me, the gold tee mod made it quite a bit louder.

If that isn't loud enough, then I'd try to find a resonator delete section of the BMW Performance Exhaust kit ($200), and then get a muffler delete axleback. ($300-600) That would be probably as loud as you want it. Playing with mids or downpipes would, IMO, put you in the "hey look at me" category

Muffler delete axle back is what you are seeking. I started with the JB+ and Berk axle back and loved it. Real sound when you are on it. I have since gone farther mod wise but my original set-up sounded the best.

Other mod considerations -

P3cars boost gauge. Nice in cabin entertainment. Pricey but exceptional quality and when your done with the car put the old vent back in and you'll get back most of your $$.

Kerscher splitter. Nice subtle exterior piece. Very nice piece for the $$.

I would recommend going with Dp's & FMIC if you are determined to purchase the Cobb AP next summer. You will then be able to take advantage of Stage 2 with the Cobb AP.

Golf tee mod($0) + PLM DPs($300) and cobb AP($800.) you'll be about $100 over budget but you'll be glad you did. You'll wonder how you ever had any fun with just the jb+ lol

I would get the berk race exhaust if you want a loud and exotic sound. Thats what I have and I love it

I have taken a fancy on the rogue engineering exhaust - not too loud under normal driving but sounds mean when WOT

I would also recommend the Berk Technology full exhaust, it's a solid system.
