Forge Motorsport Recirculation Valve

I had a set of Forge Motorsport Recirc Valve installed on my car earlier this week. Those from VW/Audi modification world will be very familiar with the Forge DV, as it is the "done thing" for all highly boosted VW/Audi.

Anyway I had no expectation that this will change anything other than preventing my OE recirculation valve from blowing up from increased boost and track application. However what surprised me was that it actually makes a difference! When you change gears, it gives you the extra shove in the back as you are in the next gear. This is due to the valve holding boost a lot better than the factory valve. Also, throttle response has improved.

All in all I am really happy with it and really surprised by it. You guys need to see the valve, it is a work of art in billet aluminium. BEAUTIFUL! Here is a link to the product.

Oh if anyone is interested in doing this, I believe Andrew is in negotiation with the importer to bring the price down with bulk purchase but I am not 100% sure. Andrew saw this as a worthwhile mod for our cars and so he is trying to source them as cheaply as possible. That was the indication I got when I spoke to him after the install but I could be wrong (sorry in advance if that is the case Andrew!). Maybe Andrew can shed some light.

Is this similar to the RR diverter valve?

the forge valves are different from RR. the RR dual divert valve kit also includes a hard pipe which can not flex under high boost.

Forge knows what they are doing when it comes to these things. There has been a few threads around where the Forge guys have come out to say that RR copied their valve. The hard pipe though may be a good idea. Not sure without trying it myself.

No sound at all. I am using the hardest spring as my turbo has more boost than factory. Might be different if you use medium or soft spring. I don't like the psssst sound so it suits me just fine!

Wayne is absolutely spot on with this recommendation. I have it on my car now and it is easily a significant upgrade over stock and a vitally congruous one for a car with a processor. A very well-made product compared to the frankly shoddy stock part.

Question: Is the body of the DV's one piece, or are either of the collars (the tube that the hose slides on to) threaded onto the body of the DV?

Essentially, yes. A blow valve and a recirc valve do the same thing. The only difference is the BOV vents the excess pressure to the atmosphere while a recirc valve diverts the air back into your intake stream. Most cars that have a mass air flow meter will have recirc valves.

^^this may be a noob question but would a blowoff valve hinder performance from the definition above?? (since its getting rid of air that could be going to the turbos)

^^ Not on our cars it wouldn't. We have no Mass airflow sensor, so the computer does not see how much air is coming in. It only sees air pressure via a manifold absolute pressure sensor. So we can vent to the atmosphere and the computer doesn't "care".

^^ Thanks for the input! ..... I never had a car where I could even hook up either one of these so now I am excited to pick one...

I have heard with a tune a recirc valve is very helpful though... but stock doesn't do much... is this also correct??

The following thread suggest that after market BOV may cause turbo failure. See quote box in post#1

LOL, there's no way a BOV did that to those turbo's. That thread is old and he dropped a bolt in the intake pipe. I've had plenty of turbo cars, and if the turbos are that weak to where a "little" compressor surge can do that much damage, then everybody better sell thier cars while they are still running. I would suggest everyone read up on compressor surge.
