Windshield replacement cost. too much!!
Parts total - $450.08
Labor - $836.00 <---------------? Labor was be 5 hours to replace a front windshield I can't justify the labor cost for this, perhaps it evolves something I'm not aware of? What do you guys think?

read your insurance policy. in florida if you have comp/collision insurance, windshield replacement is included without paying a deductable. been like that for years.

Yes I know, however, my insurance company is giving me a hard time on the labor charges. I believe the insurance company should cover the entire cost, regardless of where the work is done, but going to BMW was perhaps a bad idea.

Too bad you have to replace the entire windshield. The seals and alignment are never as good as from the factory. Agree that ins. co. should pay for labor at the shop of your choosing. Personally, I would choose a certified BMW Collision Center.

I would tell them its a two hour job and if they cant manage that you will take the car to someone who can.. You should never have to pay for their ineptitude...

I typically get my windshields installed by third party glass shops and never pay too much for them. I don't think I've ever had a windshield replaced with the OEM part at the dealer.
That really stinks |

If they have two people do the work, and it takes them two hours, then it's getting up there. However when mine was done two guys did it in less than an hour. I let the insurance company choose who to do it, and aside from the fact that the inspection sticker has obviously been removed and put back on there's no sign that it was done. I figured if something went wrong with it then USAA would have to fix it. So far so good.

We obviously pay more insurance for our cars, so i would expect them cover it.

Maybe they did the math wrong and $836 was parts PLUS labor. Ha!
I was quoted about $800 total earlier this week. I think labor was less than $200. The rain sensor option is definitely a factor in the parts total.

If you have Comprehensive coverage, tha twill pay for it, minus whatever your deductable is. I have USAA, so I have my favorite shop do it. It takes on guy around 60 minutes if he is good. I have never had a problem.

Here in New Jersey glass is not covered by the policy.
Mine is damaged and I have a deductible that I have to pay. I believe it is no fault though. |

My Insurance company tried settling with the dealer, they couldn't agree on the final cost so they sent me a check for $500 less then what I paid.
I'm going to file a complaint with BMW NA, I need an explanation on why it takes 8 hours to replace a front windshield. It's ridiculous.

Yeah its $358 for the glass, $122 for molding, $131 for sensor, and $836 for labor (8 hours).
