3rd brake light broke...
For no reason as far as I'm concerned. I'm in Canada, I don't know where, other than a dealer to buy a new one, but they want about $400 installed. What should I do?

I noticed a few weeks ago mine had some hairline cracks in it so the dealer replaced it under warranty the last time my car was there. I believe the previous owner also has it replaced once under warranty.
What year is your car? |

Search for "3rd brake light lens". There is a 5 page thread which includes pictures of invoices for warranty replacements and the number of the TSB for this.

Common problem I'm afraid, especially with the changing temps and winter coming. Mine did it in the first year I owned it.

The brake light and hardware is not that much. Well under $100, I think. The brake light breaking is quite common. Make sure to modify the brake light itself, either with some cutters and a knife or with a dremel tool. I would not file away the car'd body like my friend did in this DIY(bellow). Be sure to buy new (spring)washers and nuts, bc that is partly why the brake lights fail. Also do not over tighten the nuts when installing the new lamp.
