n51 engine mods?
hi:
i have been reading about intake swaps for 128's with the n52. i have gone to the turner motorsports site to check out info about intake swaps, but the site claims the intake used for such a swap is the same intake used on the n51... which i believe is the engine my vehicle already has. what options do i have, if any, for more ponies from the n51? thanks. |

If I'm not mistaken, you can just add a tune, being that you already have the 3 stage disa manifold and get some decent gains. I may be wrong though

You are correct. Active Autowerke has a tune for the N51 with 3 stage manifold. They can maximize the tune for 93 octane, air intake, and exhaust but the cost per pony is high.

Check out Kgolf31's thread. If there's a stronger N51 out there, I'm unaware of it.
True, but the cost per pony will always be high on an N/A engine. |

I'll update once I get them on, a new tune and dyno. Anyways, I'm running an Active Autowerke Tune, bummed it up a considerable amount. Brainless decision actually. |

I have the N51 in my car. Stock engine/exhaust except for the AA tune and I did 220whp/207wtq on a mustang dyno. So that tune plus headers are the best mods you could do.

new question... with an AA tune and aFe cold air intake (fully enclosed version), is it reasonable to think the combination would yield up to 30 more hp and 24 more ft/lbs torque gross; consider a 25% loss from driveline and a net results in 23 hp and 18 ft/lbs torque?
not sure exhaust would add much more for the cost. just trying to get the most bang for the buck! thanks Last edited by Swimjim; 12-20-2014 at 08:26 PM.. |

Then headers and a tune are the options for you.
