haha no worries, and since you did the research yes you are right a car can definitely beat a bike around the track.
I have driven an s2k, I owned one before my 1, it is a hell of a car... I really do miss the suspension and tranny on that thing. I also used to ride a 636, and would get pissed when cars tried to tailgate me on twisties, either way i'm sure you are a responsible driver speaking of s2k tranny, do any former s2k drivers have the SSK on their 1 and would like to compare and contrast? thanks |

S2000 is a special car
I owned 2 S2000s, including the first year model. I had to get rid of it when my son was born, and the 135iC was the best 'compromise'.
I still miss the handling of the S2000, I'm not sure whether I could mod my 135i to the gills and get that go-car feeling. I also loved that it was two cars, in low rpm it sipped gas like a Civic and as you pushed it, it became a monster. As much as I love my 1, the S2000 has a special place in my heart. |

this thread reminds me of when I was helping a buddy look at cars and drove an e46 M3. i really forgot how much of a revving engine the car has and how it doesnt get real fast until up top. its definitely a different feeling from the torque of the 135/335 but I think that it would be easy to get used to. in relation- the S2K may feel different just switching off like that but I think if you had one long term you'd learn how to drive it and you'd be whipping a 128.

I test drove 2002 s2000. and I didn't feel comfortable in it. Yes it feels tight, yes you need to rev it, yes it handles better.. however as any NA when you rev it high it is fun...At BMW longevity is the concern when limitin the engine at 7k redline... I am sure the I6 can be modified to go up to 8k but then you may run it 30k miles
I still love my 128i and especially I can't wait next week so that I will get Double Adjustable coil-overs in. TCKline.

I test drove an S2000 and hated it! It was so slow it felt like it wasn't moving at all...because it wasn't.
I don't fit in an S2000, so I'm happy the 135i I just ordered has way more headroom. Based on talking to people who have driven them, reviews and the specifications I bet the S2000 is a very fun car but I guess I'll never know. As for the E82's handling, I was very impressed when I test drove a 2009. Let's hope the 2011 is even better. |

My first impression was that the 135 shifted like a truck as compared to the S2000. I quickly upgraded the shifter to the BMW SSK based on what I have read here. Money well spent but it still does not shift (or handle) as well as the S2000. But now I can drive 300 miles comfortably in the 135, when I did that in the S2000 I was a basket case. I loved my S2000 and I will have one again someday when I can afford a secondary car. |
