Best Drift Tires?
Last Friday I went to a track day. It was the first for my 1M.
I like to drift as much as I can. Unfortunatly by the end of the day my tires where almost gone and they only had 2,500 km on them. I ran my stock wheels and tires. What tire should I get If I want to drift harder and longer and not have to buy tires everytime I do it? Should I get some 18s? I dont know much about this so I would really apreciate any suggestions. Thanks! |

i used to drift my old E30 a good bit, it went to the junkyard or local tire shops (bought used tires). 18's will be hard to find used in any decent condition (they are more expensive, so people wait longer to replace them, and not too many cars in the junkyard have low-pro 18's). Id just buy the cheapest tires in the closest size that fits the wheel. Front tires matter a lot more than rear tires.

stock tires, just add more air to the rear and you will be good. Otherwise try GTRadial USA

+1 on the increased rear tire pressure and a lot not a little. It will decrease the traction in the rear fir increased slip angel and keep the tires from rolling over on there sides as much.

As you know, most track orgs discourage drifting but there is a drifting organization in Texas that has some practice days at the Mineral Wells airport. Haven't been but I know someone on m3post that has.
http://www.fabricatedmotorsports.com/?page_id=13 As for the best tires? What ever's on the car right before you replace them. |

Hankook RS3's have served us well on the track/autocross and a bit of drifting. |

If you're not looking tear the bank account a new butthole (drifting gets 'spensive fast), I've used onlinetires.com for some Federal's as spares on my car, and I run 245/40/18's out back.
