Factory BMW performance carbon spoiler? I'm thinking not

Got this on ebay as an original piece.

No stickers, no part number, no factory box.

Fitment looks good but it is pretty flimsy. You can almost pull apart the two sides and it looks like glue or something in there.

Also the 3m tape vs the BMW adhesive.

Think he is BSing. Agree?

Thx.

my OEM one came with 3m tape too...and it got it from a dealer.

Mine seemed pretty flimsy too...IMO, if it fits well then its OEM lol.

if it's an OE BMW performance part it should have a stamp under the epoxy with the part number and serial. it's right in the mid. on the underside of it.

OK exactly what I was asking for. There is definitely no stamp/serial. Sending back.

Thx.

One other thing. Where exactly is it located? Would it be visible still with the 3m tape or would the tape cover it.

Seller claimed it wasn't in the original box because the BMW boxes are flimsy and alot of spoilers get broken. Hmmm.

If I remember correctly, it says "BMW Performance" somewhere. The tape might be covering it.

Well looks like it may be a factory part afterall. There is a sticker in the middle under the tape with German. If fake, then they went all out.

Thx for the response.

Not real. It's an aftermarket company. "Heckspoiler"

the part number is right in the middle under the epoxy. plus BMW does NOT use 3M tape, they use a special gray glue (sold seperate frpm the spoiler)

As mentioned, the real deal does not come with tape. The recommended installation from BMW is glue. If you were saving a couple hundred you have to decide is it close enough. You get what you pay for.

"Heck" is rear in German, so that's most likely just a reference to the fact that it's a rear spoiler.

I think the part is OEM BMW.
The label shows supplier number, material, etc.
"Heckspoiler" is nothing else than "rear spoiler" in german.

300$ is pretty fair.

The performance parts from BMW are made in small series, so it has not the standard of the common parts.

Fitting with 3m tape is also common. The E46 have had also rear and front spoiler, fitted with 3m tape.

Mike looked the same as that but it didn't have 3M tape on it, it came with this black glue gunk ! I had it fitted by the BMW Body shop and it looks really good and when fitted is pretty rigid. Off the car it's as flimsy as cloth !!! and the top and bottom edges dont meet and it looks nasty inside.........I rejected it as it looked so shabbby and the replacement was identical.

OEM parts like $500...
$200+ cheaper is worth it if it looks/works the same..
theres also: http://www.creativemotoring.com/2008...bm-0228-cf.htm

not that hard to take the 3M adhesive off & get a bodyshop to glue it on
