View from our room at the Ring yesterday

This is a shot from our room at the Ring taken yesterday, we are on vacation in Europe for a month and stopped by for the night at the Ring hotel, a four hour race was being run and it was so cool to sit on our balcony and watch the cars go by. There is practice for a bike race going on now. Wish we had our 1M here to drive the track instead of the Renault Clio rental we are driving.

That is cool Wild Bill. That is the enterance to the infield paddock (at the bottom of your pic). You might try to see IF they would let you in.

Also be sure to walk around the lobby of the Dorint Hotel... they have tons of car models and some really old interesting pictures of old race cars. You can also go upstairs on the Hotel's roof and see the track. Have fun in Europe!

Thanks, just added a shot from this mornings bike practice, we are on the third floor of the hotel next to the last room on that end facing the track. We are going to the museum this morning, then head to Paris for two days, going to take the scenic route through Luxemburg and Belgium, then train to the UK to visit the MINI factory in Oxford.

cool, yesterday it was a 6 hour VLN race, and I heard it was spectacular because of the changing weather conditions. You went out to watch I hope!?
Yesterday for the first time a front wheel drive car won a VLN race. It was an Audi TT RS from Raeder Motorsport. They where brilliant in the changing weather conditions.

We watched the race from our balcony as the weather was iffy, the race was red flagged with about ten minutes left because of heavy rain.

Yes. Overall winner against R8 LMS (P2), Z4 GT3 (P3), SLS AMG GT3 (P4) and another Z4 GT3 (P5). This is the TT RS during the 6-hour race:

And this is what it looks like in detail:

The car was developed by Audi specifically as a plattform for customers to run in the VLN endurance championship. Max. 2.6 liter turbo fwd (class SP4T). It is rumored to have 500 whp and has to weigh in at a minimum of 1.100kg. That makes it almost as powerful as the GT3s but a lot lighter. In addition the car can run bigger wings, than the cars above 3 liters may. So... clever use of the regulations. No more, no less.
