Window motor failed

So the driver side window stopped working yesterday and of course, it got stuck about 1/2" open. The motor made a grinding noise and the window pinch protection warning popped up. Took the car in to the dealer and they thought the car just needed a software update. That didn't help so they ended up replacing the power window motor. It must have been all those times when the window froze shut and the motor couldn't pull it down the 1/4" when the door was open. Pretty sucky design if you ask me.

The dealer was Gallery BMW in Norwood, MA. The service rep was good, kept in touch and got the car fixed as promised. I ended up with a beat-up Kia Rondo minivan from Enterprise - total
