I know the feeling: My 1987 325is (picture posted on the previous page) was rear-ended by someone while I was stopped at a light.

Miss my E36. 1995 with 38,000 miles. Sold her about 2 years ago. Not sure if the 135i tops it or not, they're both fun in different ways.

Probably a close match between my 330 ZHP and my current 135, man the ZHP just had the suspension tuned perfectly and the steering feedback was the best I've ever encounted in BMW.

My '07 Miata, only had it for one year and I was heart broken when I had to sell it when we moved from Belgium to the US (in the middle of a Chicago winter --> I did not purchase a Miata over there), this car was just fabulous to drive, not powerful, just a driver's car. My 128i is a lot of fun, well balanced and I love the sound of the I-6 but unfortunately it only comes second compared to the MX-5 since it is less "tactile" (I wonder what a Lotus Elise can be)...

My favorite car would be my previous car the 2001.5 Audi S4. A very close second was my 2005 SRT4, which was just plain fun to drive. For some reason my 135i isn't doing it for me yet. I've only had it for a month though.

My current '09 135i is the best car I've ever owned. A close second would be my '03 330i, which I sold a couple of years ago. Both are great DD that are a load of fun to drive. I also had an '08 Z4M, which was a huge disappointment.

My first BMW after 2 Mercedes : The fantastic Z3 Coupe 2.8 I always will remember.
A blessing after one miserable Mercedes. It gave me pleasure and a lot of fun during 10 years and 240.000km's. So far my 135i, a totally different concept with much more power, gives me full satisfaction. |

So, I'd have to say, I enjoyed this car far more than my 11 135i M sport too. Don't know how I forgot to mention it! |

I have not had the chance to really enjoy the 135i, yet. My first two weeks of ownership have been plagued with bad snowstorms, and not like the "yay, let's go snow drifting" kind, although that has not stopped me. The car is still on the OE runflats, so getting around in the snow has been hilariously awful, just bounce the throttle a teeny bit and the car will rotate right around any snow-covered corner with ease.
It seems the best car I have ever owned was my 2008 Mazda3 2.3L 5MT hatchback. Sure, it was no Mazdaspeed3, but with <$400 in bolt-ons, it went 15.1@95mph, so it was quick enough to give some sportier cars a scare through the first three gears. I learned to modify and race cars with it, and it handled abuse with zero issues. For example, did a blistering 115*F and sunny track day @ Streets of Willow, stock cooling system, plain jane 5-20 oil, and it took it like a champ and allowed me to lay down lap times that were consistent between 1/10ths of a second all day. Sure, after nearly 5 years and 80,000 miles, it had tons of squeaks, vibrations, and rattles, but it got 32+mpg all day (Have done as well as 38.8mpg for several trips), and was reliable as hell. For the time being, I'm still second-guessing getting rid of it for the 1'er. I'm hoping once the weather clears up in a month or two, I can actually drive it a bit. Hopefully this car does not turn out to be an expensive mistake. |
