BMW M3 DKG (DCT) vs BMW 135i Steinbauer
I don't understand how was the M3 capable of pulling up that quick, its like the guy in 135i wasn't trying.

Maybe that's the difference a 7sp gear spread and 0.2sec shifts adds to it's performance :iono:
I'd certainly like to think so anyways  Now all they (BMW) need to do is put that trans in the 135i  Questions though, was that M3 stock ?? torque figure displayed was 480nm ?? and did it also have both a driver and passenger like the 135i ?? |

Given that it's a different system compared to the previous M3, I've a couple of friends with e46's M3's who like to go at it every chance they get, one with manual and the other with the SMG, and no matter what start they did, the SMG one always ended up gaining on the manual one

DCT knocks down another 0.2-0.3 second off of manual m3s, but I am surprised that a tuned 135i with 367whp isn't putting up a fight.
I wonder if the 135i an auto because I didn't notice m3 gaining because of 135i's slow shifts.

I for one am not suprised at all. I really don't understand why some people somehow think the 135i is a match for the E90/E92 M3. The 135i is a match for the PREVIOUS E46 M3, but the new M3 is in another league when it comes to performance. Acceleration and laptimes of the new M3 are SIGNFICANTLY better than the previous E46 M3. Simply put, the E90/E92 M3 should be faster than the 135i in EVERY way.
Even a tuned 135i simply cannot keep up with a stock new M3.

I hope you are right. For most tuner they measure power at the wheel than at the crank.

They must be measuring crank hp, not wheel. Even Dinan tunes 335s that are down 40+hp on that car can keep up with e92 m3s.

Ther service is what has been killing the DCT!!!
And I agree that a tuned 135 should do better than that against a stock M3. What kind of gas was that guy using? Regular? Drop a V3 with downpipes, exhaust and intake and it'll be a different story, particularly with 100 octane gas. |

I don't expect the 135i to beat the M3, althought the 135i seems to be well tuned with 367hp, 354lbft, CF hood. The M3 would have never pulled away that fast from the 135i, DCT or not!
And the guy sounded too confident in making his point as if there wasn't a chance for the 135i. I think the 135i could have done better. |
