Beginning with March production, the following changes take place for 1-series Coupes and Convertibles:

128i models feature new front bumper with Air Curtain System design

All 1-series receive updated headlight and tail light assemblies, and models with xenon lights receive new LED lighting components in front and rear (xenon lights remain standard on 135i and optional on 128i)

New colors, wheels, interior applications as follows:
  • Alpine White Trim (4DH) will be new option for all 1-series models
  • Vermillion Red Metallic (A82) and Marrakesh Brown Metallic (B09) will be new exterior paint options
  • Sedona Red Metallic (A79) will no longer be offered
  • Oyster Boston Leather (LWCX) will replace Lemon Boston Leather (LWB7)
  • 17" Star-spoke wheels (2R2) replace 2CH as the Priority 1, no-charge, all-season tire option to the standard 18" wheels with performance tires on 135i models
  • All models receive standard iPod/USB Adaper as standard equipment
  • 135i models now come with power seats and adjustable lumbar supports as standard equipment
  • Convertibles will receive standard through-loading system for improved storage capacity
  • New BMW Apps (6NR) option now available
  • Base wheel sizes increased by 1"
    • New 17" star-spoke wheels with all season tires (2DM) will replace standard 16" 128i convertible wheel
    • New 18" V-Spoke wheels with mixed performance tires (2FA) will replace standard 17" 135i convertible wheels as well as 18" coupe wheels
    • 17" star-spoke wheels with all season tires (2D1) are now the standard on 128i coupe (previously offered in the 128i sport package as option code 2SL)
    • New 17" Aero Wheels with mixed performance tires are now the 128i coupe and convertible sport package (ZSP) wheels
  • Sport Package (ZSP) has been eliminated on 135i coupes and convertibles to gain focus on better customer value offered by existing M Sport Package
  • Value Package (ZVP) on all models will be eliminated (previously included Leather (LW) and iPod/USB (6FL - now standard))
  • Premium Package (ZPP) now includes Leather (LW) and optional Alpine White Trim (4DH) for all models. Power seats (459) and Lumbar Support (488) eliminated from ZPP for 135i coupes and convertibles, as these are now standard in 135i models
  • Cold Weather Package (ZCW) no longer includes through load (4UT) for convertibles (now standard) or a ski bag (468) for the coupes

The new BMW Apps (6NR) option is described as: (More details HERE)
Coming as the next advancement in BMW's ConnectedDrive Strategy, BMW Apps will provide new, unique ways of connecting driver, vehicle, and iPhone. Please be advised that adding option 6NR to any vehicle will automatically add Smartphone Integration (6NF) without an additional charge. 6NF will no longer be available as a standalone option. At the time of launch, BMW Apps will offer three functional areas (Apps, Plugin, and Video Playback).
  • Apps will consist of the BMW Connected App and BMW Certified 3rd Party Apps. The BMW Connected App is a free package available for download at Apple's App Store and currently includes Web Radio, Facebook and Twitter. Announcements for BMW Certified 3rd Party Apps will be forthcoming.
  • Plugin allows the user to take advantage of Apple iTunes features (such s Genius, album art, compiling playlists, etc.) that were previously unavailable. In essence, this function brings the look and feel of Apple's iPod interface to the iDrive display (requires snap in adapter)
  • Video Playback enables the user to view any video playback from their iPhone via the iDrive display when the vehicle is stationary (requires snap in adapter).
BMW Apps will be available on all BMW vehicles as of March, except for X3, X5, and X6 models, where the availability will begin as of April. iPhone models supported include 3G, 3GS or 4 enabled with the "BMW Connected" app available free of charge at Apple's App Store.

That looks interesting.

I couldn't see it in anything other than a white car with a black interior, which I'll admit has an almost "individual" look to it.

But trying to picture white trim in a silver or red car with beige interior and it makes me throw up a little bit to think about that.

Also it seems some of the LCI changes are sneaking in halfway through the 2011 model year.

No more sport package...lame.

And yes, the AW trim if atrocious. Looks like the accents in a Fiat 500.

Also funny/sad that the 135i bases out at 40k, but no longer has leather standard as it did last year.

Sucks they got rid of the value package. Now it looks like you're back to sitting on pleather unless you pay the hefty premium for Boston leather or opt for the "lots of crap i don't need" premium package. I'd much prefer having the real leather over the power seats with lumber adjustment. (I file those things under the "crap I dont need" category)

All in all I'm starting to be happier I pulled the trigger on the 2011. I could always retrofit the newer tails later if I wanted. (I kinda like those)

Pretty crazy. A 135i used to be $34,900 before Destination back in 08. Pretty soon a 128i will cost that much.

What do the new 17" aero wheels look like for the 128i sport package?

exactly, this is the car I would have gotten. My brother got a base 135i with sport package for about 36k final deal. I was hoping maybe keeping my 128i for 2 years and then getting a 135i, but at this rate, I am just going to keep my car. the deal I got for my 128i feels like such a bargain compared to the prices now!

yeah you'd be taking it in the ass if you did that. If you're gonna take in the ass it might as well be for a 1M.

great - the base price is increased and then we are double screwed with the elimination of the value package; the 2012 128 will cost $2k+ or more than the equivalent 2011

How much did the base price increased now? It is bad that the Value Package is gone... but looks like the ashtray cover is back?

I guess this is a game for BMW. No more standard leather, however, premium sound appears to be standard, as I have one of the few 2011 135's that came without tweeters on the doors (early build).

It does seem like they are taking away a lot and reducing the value of the packages. Glad I got a 2011!

Man am I glad I got my convt. when I did!

Mine was an October/November production '11. Didn't want the power seats (BMW's 8-way manual seats are the best in the industry). I got the value package with BMW's full leather trim (not that "leather seating surfaces" crap other carmakers have). The pass-through load might have been nice, and I'd have to see the updated light assy's to determine if there's a marked difference. But for the price mine stickered (not to mention the haggled-down price I got), I think I got the best of the bunch!

The 1M at the Washington auto show didn't have Xenon's but had the new led head & tail lights.

The Premium/Harman Kardon system is not standard for 03/11 production, it will be the same "old" standard HiFi system from 2008-2009 but without tweeters in the rear as from 09/10 production-on.

Really want to see what the rims look like.. I liked the 264's alot..
I am also dissapointed to see the sport package gone..

EDIT: Build your own at BMWUSA now allows CSM for M package.. maybe they are in the process of updating the builds.
