Pothole's E88 125i (Bilstein sportline and new wheels p2.)

So finally I'll a topic on my car. About one year ago I went to Germany to start looking for a car. I was driving an e90 320i at the time and the fact I was not driving a convertible (anymore) was driving me crazy. I was looking into e93's because I knew it had to be a 4 seater. So whilst I was checking out a bronze e93 325d I saw something in the back of the showroom. I was immediately in love..

I was allready aware about the fact the 125i was able to be tuned to 330i power levels so I was sold. So I bought the car, brought it back to Holland a week later.

The first thing I did was golf tee, install performance kidneys and get it up to its full potential.

So after that I enjoyed the engine a while. In between I installed the cyba scoops. But in the end I knew stuff needed to be done so in the last couple of weeks I ordered a performance exhaust and some coilovers. The exhaust got installed first and this is how she sounds now:

Installation of the coilovers soon followed and this is how she stands now:

These are all mobile phone pics and better ones will soon follow. The full install has been done by a dear friend of mine who deserves the utmost respect!

Now for the modlist:

- Performance kidneys
- Tunex tune
- Cyba scoops
- Performance exhaust with golf tee
- FK AK street ultra cheap budget coilovers (FTW)

My first mod in the future will be wheels.

Hope you like it! And don't flame me too much for the cheap coilovers..

Looks good! How much power did you put down once the tuning was said and done?

Thanks 4 the support guys. If you look at the video of the dynorun the screen in the back says 228hp at the wheels. That run was directly after the tune. Hot day, bad tyres and I have no cooling fed to the front. To be fair I think I should be able to reach 230 at the wheels in proper conditions.

I'll do another run eventually.

Do you have a before and after plot for me? Post it in my dyno thread.

Unfortunately I don't.. But I will post once I've been on the dyno again. It will take a while though, power isn't really what I'm going for.

I haven't driven too much with it but I will post a little review here after I did 500km with it.

I am thinking about some BBS CH but I am also looking into other options like: fifteen52, 3sdm.

CHs are strong and cheap and look good. Hard to go wrong there.

Thanks stig. I will defenitely keep this in mind. However, unlike your car, I am going for decent looks, decent power. Bit of show, bit of go. So if I find less strong wheels with even better looks, I'll go for that.

I also followed your advice and got me a sticker for absolute performance!

Don't get me wrong, I personally would not run CHs. Faaaaaar too heavy for my wants and not strong enough.

Which I understand! You are tracking your car and I am obviously not.

Those are my street wheels, which both need to survive potholes and match my driving style.

Thankfully over here in Holland we have virtually no potholes. Roads here are very well maintained (and they better be with 52% income tax, 80% tax on gas, 42% tax on car purchases and a separate roadtax of about 100 euro per quarter). I could almost buy cheap china built replica wheels with the smoothness of our roads. But do not fear, I'm not planning on doing that.

haha.. Holland. I rented a VW Polo there for a few days and took a journey around North Holland from Schiphol. Great little car. Struggling getting it up to the 130 limit though haha.

Also, you can have a performance exhaust AND golf tee mod?

Yes, BMWPE also has a flap. Simply do not connect the vacuum hose..

Today VW Polo's aren't what they used to be. I used to own one (a 1.4 litre engine) and that car topped out at 190kp/h. Not bad for 75bhp.

Lol on the speed bumps! I agree. But yes. All your roads are incredibly well maintained!

The key is doing it the Italian way and having Germany foot the bill while you enforce no speed laws.

And what size, including offset(s)? The one in the picture is clearly not for a 1-series, the offset is way too low.
