Am I the only one...?

Am I the only one with manual seats in a 2011 135i M-Sport?

I just haven't seen this combination anywhere else before.

I have manual, no leather, seats in mine. Happy with it.

I think there are more of us than you realize.

I have the M-Sport package, manual leather seats.

The only time they are annoying is when a mechanic adjusts every possible aspect of the damn seat to drive my car 15ft into the garage. I actually watched them do it once, hit every lever except the one that moves the seat up. Took me 30 minutes to get it back to the way I like it.

2011 135i DCT, M-Sport, leather, manual seats. I personally like manual better. They adjust much faster.

I asked my dealership if leather + manual seats was an option; they said no. I'm not too worried about it because I like the memory function. I will be very ticked if my car shows up and then BMW offers a cloth interior option on the 1.

Manual leather heated m-sport seats here. Everyone who gets in says "what are all these handles and what's this rocker button for (lumbar)".

You mean the power lumbar right? The air bag that pumps up. ?

I also have manual seats with this lumbar support. I love my simple seats. Almost every car I see has power seats, except for my fellow euro 1er friends.

Nah mines don't have lumbar only the side bolsters fill with air. I guess to keep you in place through out some spirited driving.

I spec'd mine without power seats. Had manual seats in my ///M3 and they were great. Didn't think it was necessary to pay the premium for motors and electronics that I'd seldom use and could fail down the road. That, and I bought the car for the driving experience, not for the luxury factor. That said, it takes me forever to get my seating position right again after someone screws it up.

I have manual seats (basically the same M sport seats of other 1 coupes) in my 1M (Euro specs), in leather (no other option in 1M, would like to have instead alcantara/leather or cloth/leather like the base M3s or option in Z4s), heated and power lumbar support in addition to regular power side bolsters. I wanted my car exactly like this at the time of order and I prefer them to power seats (did have manual sports seats before in a E90) because:

1) I am the only driver of this car, so I never miss the memory function.
2) Manual has the same adjustments, just faster to operate.
3) Entry/exit to rear is especially faster and easier with the manual, power seats' rear entry function is painfully slow
4) They are considerably lighter
5) Possible and often heard mid to long term issues with extra motors and electronics all avoided
6) Most important note for me: manual can go almost 3 cms. (1 inch or slightly more) lower than the power seats, more head/helmet room and a better driving position
7) I was still able to have both the seat heating and lumbar support options in my manual seats which I would like to take without being forced to have the power seats option
8) For all the above reasons, the extra and big cost that BMW asks for power/memory seats is irrelevant for me. I could use that money for other stuff which have real functions in a sports car and I did so.

Obviously I am a big fan of manual seats, especially in cars like the 1M where basically everything else is also kept manual and simple I could feel otherwise with a shared, four/five door and autobox family car though.

You are lucky in that lumbar support may be ordered as a stand alone option in Europe. Here in the states, it may only be specced as part of the Premium Package - which includes leather & power seats.

I suspect KrisM3 meant the side bolsters which are part of the Sprt Package, not lumbar.

I agree, especially after having it serviced it takes a few tries to have it adjusted perfectly for the clutch engagement.

My car is a 2010, US spec 135i. I did not order the lumbar support. I ordered a car with manual seats and it came with that. There is a little dip switch at the drivers front corner of the seat that inflates or deflates the lumbar cushion for your back.

I did not want a lot of options for my car... I only order (full)M-sport, 6FL/USB port, metallic paint, heated seats, 6MT, and leather seats.

On the EU/German spec models you can order every ala cart. But you pay dearly for every little option!

I know I'm not in a 135i or M-sport but I love my non-power non-leather sport seats. The only stupid thing is nobody understands the seat's shoulder lever to slide the seat forward, they ALWAYS bend down and pull the seat height lever, and with nobody in the seat it springs up about 8 inches and screws up the whole seat position.

That's why nobody touches the drivers seat but me.

Also think about the weight savings on all those motors.

Interesting. In my '08, that switch operated the inflatable side bolsters which came with the sport seats. The lumbar control is a circular control located a few inches to the rear - and was only available with the ZPP and power memory seats.

Tom

My '11 has that little rocker button on the front corner of the seat, adjusts the side bulsters. Both front seats have them. No lumbar support on my seats, nor did I want it.
