my commute increased to over 40 miles each way with a new job. i wanted something cheap that still was fun to drive, that i didn't care if i put 40k miles a year on. my 335i was an awesome car, i just didn't want to ruin it in a few short years.

i'll get back into another n54 soon i think. for now, the zhp is fun to drive while getting better gas mileage, and i'm not worried about piling on mileage. plus, i found someone that wanted to buy my 335i for a very generous price

If I were to get a Cobb AP, do you think its worth getting a custom tune for another $500 or so via the ATP?

I am looking through various results from members on here with the off the shelf Stage 2+ where one guy (rnmevo9) did a 12.3@117mph on pump gas and run flats. That seems awfully good for an off the shelf map, so I was curious if there was any more power to be had from a custom tune or if it should be left alone for some margin of safety?

to me a reason to go custom tune is more for the reliability of it being put to your specific engine. There may be a couple extra hp to be had as an off the shelf will be tuned to "someone's" car a "some" altitude, and on what brand of gasoline.

if you want the car tailored to you, and you have 93 or 94 octane in your area, and you are lower elevation, get the tune as it will work better with those parameters then just an off the shelf that you don't know what temperature of day or elevation or gas brand you are getting into.

It's piece of mind, to me anyhow.

i see a true value in getting a protune specific to your car, mods, enviorment, etc.

even if it doesn't yield 30 whp, it's worth it to have your car running in optimum form

I did the same thing, love my ZHP. I really miss my 1er but adding an ESS twin screw might cure that pretty quickly.

hey man,
it's nice to be a fellow zhpmafia member now

i can't complain about the zhp. it's plenty quick enough for my daily commute, and that's really all i'm using it for. no drag strip visits, no highway pulls.

yes, i miss my 135i and 335i cars. they were full beasts. this car will do for now, i love how it handles!

the eurocharged tune really woke it up, i love how responsive it is now. i'm going to pick it up here in a few minutes from getting my technik headers installed

hopefully it's getting a little quicker

run that past the wife? wasn't the purpose of the ZHP to recoup some of the money of the 1er for your new life?

[off topic]

Seth- I had the technik headers installed yesterday. Wow, the car is crazy loud now! Much louder than my 135i or 335i were with catless down pipes. Then again, this car doesn't have 2 turbo's to muffle the exhaust

I'm currently hanging out at Eurocharged in houston, going to get a retune to maximize the gains of the headers. I feel like the cars lost some low end torque, but I'm sure Jerry can sort that out

NICE. Glad I left my resonators in my exhaust.

Let us know how it goes with Jerry. If you dyno PM me @ Eurocharged and I'll upload the results to ZHPmafia under our sponsorship there.

Didn't end up getting retuned yet, had to get to work and Jerry wasn't in the office. I'll hopefully get dyno tuned soon, I'll be sure to PM you the dyno graphs for Zhpmafia. Thanks man!

Let me know how your headers turn out, too

Also, good thing you didn't do the resonators for sure! I'm going to get a magnaflow x-pipe to weld in, and I'm keeping both resonators. I'll let you know what effect the x-pipe has on the exhaust note. I'm wagering that it's going to tone it down slightly but keep the tone pretty nice.

I'm very unaware of whether I will lose my warranty on my 135i N55 if I install a JB4 chip?

Does anyone know if I will?
