windshields made out of paper!
Well at 850 miles i received my first stone chip on windshield. It was on the passinger side, had it repaired (70% fix) so was able to live with it.
Today was driving on highway and a really really small pebble came up and hit my windshield. The pebble just touched the glass and "CRACK!!" This time the crack could not have been in a worse place...If you were to draw a line from the crack to my nose it would be perfect horizontal line! I had it fixed again (90% fix) they did a much better job, but still see a tiny pin dot right in front of my face. Will have to drive with it for a while to see if I can live with it or get a replacement windshield. Why are our windshilds so thin that if you breath on them they crack!!! |

I have 43k on my car and went through 4 windshields so far. The current one I have was chipped within 2 weeks. All has been OEM glass.

My car has 26000 mile, replaced windshield once and
got hit again within weeks. It has about 80% fix. The guy who did the job told me that if the crack is directly towards your eye, the windshield needs to be replaced.
Now my car is in the dealer waiting for the sunroof glass ordered from Germany. In my whole life of driving, only got 1 replaced windshield and 1 dent before this 08 128i Coupe. So, maybe the windshield is indeed to thin?

Same thing with me. Driving the Vette on the NSP a town truck dropped a small pile of dirt in the road. The car in front kicked up the muck and a stone wacked dead center. It was a small crack but annoying as hell being close to line of sight. Brought it to Safelite in Huntington and they repaired it. It is much better but stil noticeable if you try to find it. If your isnt to bad maybe live with it for a while, you might get used to it. Sometimes ins. companys will raise the rates(using an excuse) and on occasion drop the client. Happened to a friend of mine.

The windshields ARE thinner than they used to be. All auto glass is. It was done to save weight. to help meet Govt. CAFE standards.
