Consider a stay of at least three hours at TMD Castle. No issues for regrouping at an agreed time: the centrally positioned bar ("Palm Café") next to the water lily pond might be the right meeting point. Relaxing with a gelato and an exotic drink (or a light quick meal) after an exquisite garden walk, before the 1addicts convoy hits the road again into the mountains. Ah, the sweeter side of life at Club Tropicana.

A guy at my dealership was at Stelvio a few weeks ago (cycling). He recommended to pass also through the small tunnels at Livigno (location: check the map for Bormio, go West on the SS301 and subsequently North where you spot the Livigno Lake / Lago di Livigno): "the right place to make some noise". That's also why I included it in the provisional Sat 20/07 itinerary:

For me, the TMD castle and the associated loop would fit very well on sunday (after an early start on sunday morning to have a "clean lap" on the Stelvio )
For saturday, if we want to ride the Stelvio as well (but in the other direction), would it be interesting to do it rather late in the day (c.a. 8 pm) ? maybe less crowded and with the nice sunset colors, if we are lucky...

Yes, I was thinking we should visit the TMD Castle on Sunday. Maybe we can depart the hotel, drip up Stelvio Pass one more time(if everyone wants too?) and then back down and to the Castle.

THREE hours? Really? I will do what ever the group wants to do. But I was thinking of less of a stay.

So you are saying to GO thru the tunnels or bypass them? If the later(bypass them) how do we drive???


And as for driving at night up or down the Stelvio Pass... I do not think that is a good idea. I think we should try and be back at the hotel by nightfall.

What route is everybody taking to get there? Rudi, are you planing on going through the black forest on your way there? I'm thinking of taking the long way around and driving some Switzerland passes along the way. Is anybody interested in a trip through the black forest and Switzerland on Thursday/Friday?

If anyone is interested, the Stuttgart crew is rolling Friday, I think around Noon'ish. If anyone coming from the other side on Friday (Wiesbaden, Spang, H-berg, K-town, Bavaria) want to meet up and roll together we will be meeting up on base for a quick lunch and then rolling out.
