Rear seat space

Hey, if I can fit 5 adults into my MINI Cooper S (though I think the fifth occupant felt a bit...violated by the back seat belt receivers...) then you can easily fit a couple kids in the back of a 135i.

I think pre-teen kids will be just fine. Not a lot of room to move around in back there, but maybe that's better anyway.

My kids are 10 and 7 right now and they do fit. When my lease is up next year I will be moving to something bigger as they aren't getting any smaller.

Hey guys; I'm new here, and considering a 128i cabrio. Here's my question. If my wife is 5'6", and my daughter 5'4", will they be able to sit front/rear, with some semblance of comfort in both seats? I'm assuming it's easier with the top down, but I'd be interested in views either way.

My 5'9" daughter sits behind my 6'4" son. I think your wife and daughter will be fine. The only trick to the back seat of the one is for the front seat passenger not to put their seat all the way back. I'm 6'2" and my normal driving position is not all the way back - but there is not a lot of room behind me. If an adult needs to ride behind me then I move the seat up a little.

For a long trip with 4 adults they need to be shorter than me. But most people are. But my kids are fine for a short trip (my son is closer to the dash than he would normally sit but he isn't touching anything). Your wife and daughter should be fine regardless of the trip length.

I am a Belgian currently living in Chicago. Back in Belgium, my colleague had a 120d 5 doors that I used a lot and I sat a lot in the back seat for journeys between Brussels and Liege and honestly I would not be too concerned about the change to a Coupe, at the contrary.
My 128i coupe features MUCH more cargo space than the 120d. The trunk is fairly useable (and I need it a lot since I have a 6 months daughter that always travel with a bunch of stuff). Besides that I feel the leg room is similar than the one of the hatch, maybe even a bit bigger (rear seats feel "deeper"), the only notable difference is the head room (I am 1,78m and my head barely touches the roof) but that should not be an issue for your kids.

I don't know for the current diesels but I remember I absolutely HATED the imprecise shifter of my colleague's 120d and I ADORE the one of the 128i (sharp and very precise, just a bit too long but precision and feel compensate for that, only my 2007 Mazda MX5 had a better one), let us hope the 120d and 123d coupe have the same...

My recommendation go for it, especially if your lease let you go for the 123d. It has all the good of your hatch plus a nicer design...

i don't find the doors a bad length on this car at all. I was expecting more trouble with them then i get. Since it's a small car, it maintains a decent sized door. and since the car is narrow, that helps with the door opening a little wider.

funny thing is, i don't think i've ever opened the door all the way to get out before either, and i'm just shy of 6'5 or just less then 196cm

as for back seat, just get a convertible that way you just open the roof and drop the kids into their seats.

I can't really comment on back seat room, there's almost non behind me, though my seat isn't all the way back. And although i have a girlfriend that keeps hinting for us to go into the back, i just give her a the look and say "yeah..... you climb back there, see how hard that is, then think how much more difficult it will be for me." (she's 5'10 or 178cm)

I have no desire to go back there, other then to clean the leather.

It seems like she might make climbing into the back seat worth the trip You'd need to move the front seats forward first but it could then be quite comfortable - or whatever.

my last car that had a back seat too small, the seats all the way forward helped, but the rug burn was bad. so i tryed legs out the window, but that car had windows that rolled down in the back

we'll see what happens in the future.

My son has his own truck these days so I rarely need the back seat.

As much as I love this car, I have to say if you're going to use the backseat regularly you'll probably want to look at something else.

The contortions adults have to do to get out of the back is kind of funny though.
