OOOH - an NDA!
So CDs and DVDs are always released on Tuesday, books are released on Thursday, and movies mostly come out in the theater on Friday - what day will the hot auto parts be released? Have Fun, Rick

Here are a few ideas...
adc hasn't signed any NDA's, you can tell him in confidence. Or, just create another account. I'd like to have more info, I'm only 1 month away from ordering a car and I still haven't decided between 135i and M3... |

If the "Performance Power Kit" is what makes people chose the 135i over the M3 I would anticipate MUCH better numbers than what's been rumored to come from this upgrade.

^lol. the whole story starts all over again between the m3v8 and 135i. Do not ever think that a 350bhp 1 series is more powerful then a 415 bhp M3V8. No way. The M3 is the better performing sportscar. Is has been so many times proven on circuits by independed testers. period. How many youtubes movies you want to see about that subject. Even a M3V8 outruns a BMW 135i Evotech 400bhp+ with aftermarket sports suspension by minutes(!), if they drive f.i. 15 rounds on the track.
BUT, can a 350bhp 1 series give you that much fun for half money? O yes, it can. And, the torque engine of the 135i is even faster on the daily road in flexibility. O yes, it is. So, if you are not a hard core trackdrive, the 135i will do. What? I would prefer above the M3. But if you are - or wanna be - an experienced trackday race driver and you absolutely want the ultimate machine? the M3V8is the care to have, not the 135i. have fun ACS1.35i |

Thus equipped, speed and handling would be very similar to the M3 but the price difference would be halved. Just adding my numbers, see what they come to... Quote:
I have seen that OLOA car in person and know what it takes to get it to that level, the question is am I prepared to do it? Quote:

ALL this Talk about 135i VS M3
Has anyone stopped to think that maby its the M3 that should have more HP.. Then having a 350hp ISH 135 would be no big deal, and not infringing on the M3 sales as people say... |

hi adc.
Ofcourse the discussion between the 135i and m3v8 has to be between stock cars, not a havily modified 135i against a stock M3v8. But still a havily modified 135i(!) cannot keep up with the M3v8. Here is one test between the M3V8, Schnitzer ACS1.35i (360bhp) and the Evotech 135i (400+bhp). There are more tests, have to look up. http://img138.imagevenue.com/img.php..._122_949lo.jpg http://img164.imagevenue.com/img.php...jpg&loc=loc817 360 135i against M3v8 Last edited by BMW-driver; 03-13-2009 at 03:50 AM.. |

^Ofcourse BMW acts that way. Actually, did you read the track data precisely? As you can see the AC Schnitzer is on all checkpoints (sektoren) on the track faster(!) than a M3v8. Just on the 215 tires at the front. But still the M3 wins with a huge gab! Why? Because 1st) the M3 standard suspension is also brilliant and 2nd) the brilliant v8 engine has more power. But, if you modify the M3 with better suspension, the ACS1.35i has not any change at all against a modified M3.
So, the whole discussion is not relevant at all. The only thing you can say, but than you have to include the 335i as well in this dicsussion, is the M3V8 THE car to have if you want - stupidly - fast in the daily traffic. Well, I can live with the 135i/335i. I do not need the M3V8 for that. But, crzy4135i, just make a testdrive in the M3V8..! have fun! ACS1.35i |

The ACS car runs on incorrect wheels (wrong offset leads to narrow tires) and I would imagine, based on their other road offerings, the suspension is also soft - and the power increase too conservative. I am telling you I saw a 135i with about 340 WHP, wide PS2 all around, top of the line race coilover suspension and $$$ Performance Friction brakes - that car was consistently faster than a stock M3 on all manners of tracks. And for less money (just barely). But is a $50k 135i worth it compared to a $55k M3? I am just not sure. |

Sorry ADC, but it is a inrrelevant discusion. Modify a Renault Megane (year 1993) with 600 BHp and supersuspension and it wil outperform any 135i. Your obeservation about the ACS wheels... well, I am sorry, but do beleive that AC Schnitzer (= BMW Rennsport WRC) know what they are doing. Better then we do behind our desk.
Anyway, have fun with the car. I like my 135i a lot!! |

Just the fact that I would modify the 135i with a different set of parts and in my own garage??? All the parts I have in mind are high quality (even BMW parts), with the correct R&D effort spent... Quote:
