I just bought my 325i last Friday, and my phone connects about 90% of the time. The trick seems to be that I take the phone off my belt and lay it in the center console with the display facing up prior to pushing the start button on the car. When I do this perfectly, it seems to connect every time. If I leave it on my belt or have the display on the phone facing down, it rarely connects. Also, if it doesn't connect immediately, it won't connect at all. I don't have iDrive. I have a Razr V3 with Verizon Wireless.

CIP 20.0.2 + another happy customer
My bluetooth only worked about 25% of the time with my Blackberry 7130e (10/05 production 325i no iDrive). I got my software upgraded to CIP 20.0.2 a week ago, and my phone has connected 100% of the time since.

On a different note, I have also discovered my speedometer is off by 6% - 8%. I just bought the car a week ago, and it felt like something was wrong as people kept passing me even though the speedometer said I was going like 85mph. I finally got my GPS out to check it, and sure enough the speedometer was way off. I am going to have them straighten that out on Thursday as well.

Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.

I had the upgrade done to my car yesterday, and so far the bluetooth is working perfectly. I think the problem is fixed.
BMW acknowledged the speedometer was wrong, but apparently they do it intentionally and refused to fix it. What kind of irritated me though, was that the ticket listed my speedometer complaint as an issue they looked at, and it said they couldn't reproduce the problem. They didn't even try to reproduce the problem. They should have just said, "We refused to fix it."

I have a Treo 650 and was previously having problems with pairing. It would pair only about half of the time. After the upgrade to CIP 20, it pairs every time I get into the car.

Are all of you that say "works great/fine" saying that you have all of the available options of the cars BT and they all work fine or are you saying that the options your phone is compatable with work fine... Like the Trio is not compatable with the contacts list, just the speed dial, or so I am reading here... Yet some say it "works great!"...

Razr V3c from U.S. Cellular works every time. Reception has been great and I'm not using a cradle, just the phone. Haven't had the car long but so far no Bluetooth issues. Car was built in January so maybe it got updated software.

I heard there was but I wasn't interested so I did not pursue it. My address book comes through just fine. I don't have the Nav feature so I just see the address book through the radio display. I've used the voice function and selecting an entry directly from the radio and both have worked flawlessly. |

As far as I know, everything that is supposed to work with the bluetooth on my phone works now that I have the CIP 20 update. I can look up my contacts on the radio and make calls. When calls come in, the caller ID shows up on the radio and tells me who from my contacts is calling. Text messages and calendar reminders don't work through the radio, but I don't think they are supposed to. Also, call waiting doesn't work through the radio either. If you get another call while you are on the phone, I guess you have to use the phone controls to switch over to the other call.

Yes, I did have trouble with my bluetooth prior to getting the CIP 20 update. I only had intermittent connectivity, just like many others on these forums. The dealer updated the software under warranty, and gave me a loaner while they had my car. It took two days to have the update done, but I also had them install Sirius at the same time.
Some people in this thread that have a Cingular Razr had no problems, and I think they may not have had the CIP 20 update. I have a Verizon Razr, which I think uses slightly different bluetooth protocols (there is another term besides protocol that is used, but I forget what it is). The Sliver is a Cingular phone, so it might work just fine. The only way to know is to buy it and see how it works.

Car: Jan'06 build 320d (so I assume it has latest software)
Phone: RAZR V3 silver, Sim free (but on Orange UK) R74_G_0E.42.0CR No problems detected (but only light use) - Pairs everytime, Make/receive voice calls OK, Phonebook OK (but needs careful reprogramming of your address book entries to make voice dialling sensible), Texts - not tested, Signal strength meter OK. Note for other V3 users - It looks like a snap in adapter will be available soon - see the sticky compatible phones topic. Phone: Panasonic X70: software A36 (only used for a few days as I was waiting for the car before changing it), paired OK (but experience of the phone in other situations makes me think that in the long term it would fail sometimes), Make/Receive calls OK, no phonebook transfer or Signal Strength display. Note: late phone software on the X70 improves BT in other situations considerably, so I assume that its imprtant here too. |

No problems with my Motorola V540 (identical to the V551, except without the camera). Cingular.
