Cupholders?

Crimeaniminie. I remember when cars didn't even have cupholders to complain about. Now cheap ass K-Mart visors, that IS rediculous in a $40K+ car.

Did anyone mention the lack of rubber end caps on the seat rails in back that people inadvertently use to perform self-surgery on their toes? What would they cost to include, like 65 cents apiece?

I just realized a massively flawed part of the interior today in heavy sunlight: the visors!! whoever designed these visors should be locked away in a closet and never allowed to design a visor again. sheesh.

Locked in a closet? I vote tied to a lone tree in the desert.

With only a 1-series visor in their hand for shade.

I beg to differ! My 2000 Passat wagon boasted these wonderful things:

About 3/4" deep and only good for a half-empty can of soda. Complete rubbish.

The cupholders in my old MKIV Jetta worked wonderfully. However, they were right above the radio and condensation from your drink would inevitably make it's way into the electronics and ruin it.

Don't own a 1 series yet but I'm looking at buying the wife one in the next year, the one thing I find hideous about the car so far is the huge antenna in the back

You talking about on a convertible? For $30, you can buy the "sport antenna" which is short and stubby and looks 1,000 times better. Here's a pic of that installed.

Bingo. Looks 1000 times better. Is that from the dealership?

Ya, it's an authentic BMW part, which is part #65202296761 if you want to keep that handy. MSRP is $36, but you can get it online or from your dealer for less probably and installs in like a minute as you just unscrew the 16" veiny one and screw this one on. Best $30 you'll ever spend. Problem solved. No clue why they it didn't just come like that standard.

Dislikes:
1) guess what kind of tires I hate. Just put on winters non-rft and what a difference.
2) visors. My first car, a 70 Challenger had better. Wife complained 1st time she road in the 135
3) without the smokers package, you have to run power to the GPS from the center console? I stopped by the local dealer and asked them about ordering one and installing it with the cigarette lighter power and they had no clue. Anyone know the part numbers?
4) brake dust. Gotta try the Amour All.

I still have my 2010 RX8 and it had the basics down better than the 135 but fuel/oil consumption, lack of low end grunt and lack of headroom made it a tiring drive. Wish I could keep it for weekend drives but the wife says it must go. sniffle...

With the temps dropping near freezing around here I've been having problems with the driver and pass windows freezing to the rubber seal in the door. What a PITA!
I also installed non-RTF snows and now can relate to the RFT rants.

I am actually a little curious about the first statement you made as I encountered that the other day with the excessive frost.

Can the window become frozen to the seal and ultimately destroy the motor from the added stress? If it is frozen enough, is the door unable to be opened at all?

IF you treat your window seals and door gaskets with "gumi pledge" you shouldn't have any problems...

Thank you! We've been having some mornings with heavy frost and the last thing I wanted was something to get ruined!
