and what percentage of people who try and "customize" their car will end up with warning messages and non functional angel eyes

really should not be a problem. For me (E46) My 8000K angel eyes are wired to my daytime running lights with the lights themselvs disabled so the only thing you see is the angel eyes while driving...it should be a similar way with the E90. Had them over for 2 years now and no problems.

Just switch out the daytime running lights for the angel eyes and hook it up correctly with the lights disabled...I'm sure there is a DIY somewhere on the net...the cars have been out for over a year.
