Unhappy Dealer says no mats. BMW or other?

I have the following on order:

2006 330xi Barrique red, manual transmission.
Beige w/Dakota Leather Upholstery
Poplar Natural Wood Trim
Premium package
Cold Weather Package
Comfort Access
Active Cruise Control
Park Distance Control

I was just informed by the dealer that no floor mats or trunk mats come with the car.

Would I be better off purchasing BMW mats or mats from somewhere else?

If you are getting $1000 over invoice or better, I would say yes...buy them from a wholesale BMW parts dealer. If not, then you should kindly ask for them to be included or take your business elsewhere.

For god's sake you are buying the most expensive E90 there is. Tell them to throw them in or you might have to go somewhere else!

It's isn't unheard of... but I really don't understand why they don't come with the car. They're considered an "accessory"...something you have to buy extra, like the alarm. And like the mats, I can't understand why the alarm isn't at least an option

Don't be mad if the dealer won't give you the mats. Mine did, but sort of went out of their way to do so, and only gave me one "BMW" mat, the rest were blank mats, probably not even made by BMW.

If you really want to find genuine BMW mats, I guess the best way would be to buy them from the dealer, but I always found myself asking, "do I really even need them?". The ones I bought for $40.00 at Auto Zone are just as good, and won't stain because they're those rubber ones.

Of course, these other guys have a good point. I mean, you are getting a pretty loaded car. You'd think they'd at least throw one "BMW" mat in

My dealer gave me the option of carpet or rubber mats, no charge. I asked for both-no problem. Its too bad when you spend that kind of $$$$ and certain dealers continue to nickel and dime you.

Most cars just delivered to the dealer will have the boxed mats in the trunk. I think each dealer assumes the buyer of the vehicle will also pay for them. They have one for each car already. They don't cost so much that a delaer would let that get in the way of a sale, so I would tell the dealer that you want them included and make it clear that your position on this is not negotiable. Be firm and they'll not charge you. Remember, you are the customer and you have what they want! - MONEY . Good luck.

No floor mats? What kind of dealership are you using? We have bought 8 BMWs in the last 2 years, and EVERY one came with floor mats (front and rear).

Talk to the sales manager, and let him know. Totally unacceptable!!!

Cars here don't come standard with floor matts either, but they can be ordered and cost R800 (~$120) but it's included in the exclusive pack, and most dealers will throw it in if you ask nicely.

This isn't even worth discussing about. You buy an expensive car, they should give you the mats for free. If they refuse, go elsewhere. Over here, they are also optional, but always free.

My salesman said he would include the regular mats and all seasons.

I got 4 regular mats and 2 all seasons. Came back and said that when he said the mats were included I thought he meant 4 all seasons. Next day I got an email that my rear all season mats were ready to be picked up at the parts dept.

This was for a fully loaded 330 only without activice cruise and steering.

Get the rubber ones. They are great for winter.

i got a decent deal on my 330i and the dealer would not throw the mats in for free nor would he sell them to me at invoice, and he was pretty firm about it too. but then, we only have 3 dealerships in pittsburgh area so i couldn't really threaten him to go to a different one because he did give me the best offer out of the three. other than that though, he did absolutely nothing extra for me.

The E90 truely does not come with mats. My dealer included them for free but had to order them. I received them the next week.

Back in the day, floor mats were included into the MSRP. It no longer is. Many US BMW Centers will charge for floor mats. Suggested Retail is $125.00

Make them throw in the mats! I got the carpet ones with the BMW lettering on the driver's mat. Shoot, that's the least they could do given all the stuff that's not standard and we are forced to buy.

I'm with you, I didn't think twice. They were included in both of my BMW's past and present. If you don't asked they wouldn't get excited about the possiblity of charging you.

Not completely true. The 3 series X3, X5, and Z4 dont come with mats from the factory, all of the other cars do. I sell BMW's in NJ and we include mats with every car free of charge.

Also someone asked why the alarm isnt an option. The reason for this is BMW says they dont want to step on the feet of the parts and service department by making it an option. The say that they would be taking a profit from the individual dealership. That is why the spoiler and 6-cd changer and other accesories are not available from the factory.

Hope this helps

That's a pretty good theory Ryan. I understand you might be right with the cd changer and spoiler but there aren't very necessary like the factory alarm. It's something that is included in many other new cars and I certainly feel that it should be included. I didn't even ask if it had the alarm at first because I assumed it was included just like everyone else.
