I was not realistically expecting this to be available but I sorta hoped it would be anyway. Unfortunately I couldn't wait until October for a car but this is one feature that packs some convenience and a lot of "cool" for only $500.

it's not really that cool of a feature,
to lock, you still have to touch the handle to unlock you still have to touch the handle to start you have to depress the brake, and clutch, then hit start compared to lock, push the button on key unlock, push button on key start, depress clutch, insert key, hit start the idea sounds cooler than it is in actuality |

I hear that Lexus is developing the Telepathy Package. You just look at the start button and the car starts. I think it requires an infrared device implant in your cornea.

I can see that you and I are both Knight Rider fans from years ago. But unfortunately the KITT package isn't being offered on any cars today as far as I know. Until then, it looks like you and I will continue to have to use our hands to open those doors.

Some car comming out, you just have to walk up to the car and it opens. There will be aftermarket is this for sure. In one magazine it says it will out sell remote starters.

I was at the dealership today and my service adviser was going through a printed FAQ and I saw one specifically about retrofitting comfort access. The answer was a clear No.

To lock you have to touch the handle briefly after the door is closed. Still less handling than pressing the fob and then stowing away the fob. Only you don´t get to slam the door behind you without ever looking back as you can with the regular remote, locking while walking away. (Acutally you can, because the CA fob also has buttons to remotely lock/unlock but then you´re missing the point of CA...) Starting is basically the same procedure as without the CA. Only the key stays within your pocket. To me the benefit of CA is simply not having to getting the key out of my trouser pocket at all. No Keyring dangling on the dash. More options of stowing the key fob in harder to reach places (in my wardrobe please, don´t get me wrong ) |

I'm driving a G35 until my e90 arrives with the CA equivalent. Its like most gimmics. Cool at first, but after a couple of days you can take it or leave it. I'm not going to miss it when the Beemer arrives

I agree... $500 seems kind of steep for this marginal convenience.
