i recommend the GoPro HD Motorsports version - you get ton of mounts and different placement options with that kit - dont forget to get an extra battery, an HCSD card (16 or 32 gig), and the brand new GoPro BacPac attachment - gives you playback options, aswell as live video feed during recording.

i have two of these cameras and literally opened the box to the BacPac from UPS.

enjoy the trip, im sure itll be amazing!

I thought the same thing but after an overnight flight to Munich and about an hour of total sleep, I was a total zombie at the Welt. Not even No Doz was keeping me awake! The breakfast weisswurst and pastries helped but it would have been more enjoyable after a night of rest. I'll plan it better this time

Definitely think about a quick drive on some of the autobahns. Even if you're careful about the break-in rules, you can still get some good speed and you can honestly say that you've driven on the German Autobahn. Go ahead, use the cruise control at 120mph! Just watch for the no speed limit signs and you're good to go.

Also, the Austrian alps are not far away. The twisty mountain roads are loads of fun! Just be careful if you're mounting the camera on the side of the car, the road gets pretty narrow in some places and oncoming traffic are not afraid to drive close to you. They're not liberal with the use of guardrails and the mountain side is right up against the road. I was very glad that I was in a 1-series as there were more than one butt-puckering moments that a bigger car wouldn't have fit through. Can't wait to do it again!!

Thanks for the great advice. The autobahn and the Alps are a must for me.

Does anyone have a recommendation of a 'final destination', I was originally thinking Italy, but I've never been to Europe so I really have no idea what would be best. My family heritage is German / Polish, but I have little desire to visit Poland. I would LOVE to check out Gibraltar as well as Italy, and I have a huge desire to see Greece.

Check this forum for ideas. I learned a lot from the posts in there... http://bimmerfest.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=25

Also, don't forget to sign the Bimmerfest book at the Welt. I was in such a daze that I totally forgot!

Sweet! Check and see if you have enough to ride in more than economy. My trip to the pre-drive was ok in economy.., but it's really rather cramped for 12-13 hrs.

And make sure you put her on the ring. I wish I was still there. I would love to give you some fam laps and take a ride in the new beauty.

Nurburgring is a must too, even if I can't push the car real hard before break in.

I wanted to go with my parents, I'll probably never get to take a trip to Europe with them after this. They are very busy. My dad cannot make it, but my mom is on board.

She is just as much of a driving enthusiast as me, we have both tracked our cars on circuit courses around Texas. I think it would be a blast for both her and I to get a lap or two around the ring.

Yes I'm hoping I can fly business class, at this point though I'm just grateful I'm getting to live a dream. A wet dream at that

WTF? This is from 18 months ago. I assume if he didn't come back and post about his new love and trip to Europe, it didn't happen.

Yes, decided to save my money. It would wipe out too much of savings.
