^^Negligible trade-off for the big bump in power. 20psi hits by 3.5k on the larger frame turbo, I'd be interested to see how much better it would be using a twin scroll smaller turbo.

too bad for people who spent money on an upgraded down-pipe, now they need a new one. especially hurts if one bought a full Akra Evo system.

1M with this kinda power will need a rear wing, otherwise it will lift off

making power from 3k to 6.5k means you only end up with a 3500rpm range of usable power.

Doesn't sound that satisfying, though the 650whp does sound nice.

But imo......... it's overkill, lol. Just end up in trouble more often

6.5k is for the autos since they upshift there, for us we can go to 7k or beyond if the DME was reflashed to do so

IIRC the RB's could make a bit north of 500 if the N20 TMAP sensor is installed.

I am trying hard to wait until the warranty is up. Only 25k more miles. If I keep reading on the e90 n54 forum though I will be hard pressed to wait that long

Not necessarily. The 58mm precision turbo spools faster than the stock twins, especially with the ceramic ball bearing upgrade. The feel is also totally different since the turbo doesn't gas out at 6k rpm. There's multiple good threads on e90post regarding the tuning progress and results.

Interesting... will keep a close eye on this. Key is to have enough boost for > 6krpm. The car doesn't need more power low down.

Can you say 600whp on E85 w/o meth? We need a 135i/1M to represent the 1er community!

There is a fellow running RB turbos on his 1///M (in Panama). Had tried to revive the thread and get his thoughts but he hasn't responded.

+1

Yeah, N55 single turbo is said to have quicker response and butt meter concurs.

Amusing, but way too much for the 1M's chassis. You can add all the KW's and big brakes you want, anything above 450HP is a waste IMO. Not to mention reliability issues ...

It'd be fun to hit 450hp.
Single's are good for the track and drag strips. Although, for the street you would need to open the engine up to make the thing useful. That's my opinion though.

Should able to hit 450hp with RB without meth. The question is if it can be maintained to the redline without meth.
