Amazing, so many opinions, yet no one has driven one yet. I'll reserve my judgement until then.

Beautiful car, as usuall from weisssach but sadly out of reach for most mortals.

I was confused why the 1M didn't have a dct option, when the m3 did. I would love to hear the reasons
When I was shopping the dct and additional ratio the on the 135 was a major factor.

Going OT but... A DCT 1M would of shaved another 2-3 tenths of the 0-100, and that would of really embarrassed the M3 fraternity IMO. So the back to basics idea was formulated to keep the peace, so to speak.

I have actually spoken to Peter@Advan in reference to the cost involved converting a 1M to a DCT, but that's another thread topic and not here.

Tell me why it is my ignorance to mourn the loss of the ultimate driver's car as it turns into yet another magazine numbers car.

Every current 996/997 GT3 owner I know won't be getting this one for those reasons.

There's 14 997 GT3 sellers on carsales ATM and 8 RS owners as well. That's a lot of cars considering their scarcity. I suggest a few will have ordered a new one already.

100% agreed. The 997.2 GT3 has been my dream car since the day it came out. Before that, the 997 GT3. It's everything I look for in a car.

My dream car is dead. No desire for the 991 at all.

Was duelling with a 997 GT3RS yesterday at Sandown. Second time I have seen these on track. Without denying the superior handling and top-end output, the 1M torque allows it to remain competitive on corner exits when heavily outgunned. Anyway, the driver seemed to loose rear traction quite readily (prior to running off in the sandpit).

I have several videos of me running down and passing stock and modded GT3 RS's in my relatively low torque e46 M3. Doesn't mean the gt3 isn't a (significantly) faster car or that torque is buying you anything.

Oi.

all the 997 GT3's WITH A DECENT DRIVER i have encountered have run rings around my 1M and just about everything else at a track. A GT3 with an actual driver, not just a rich bloke in it, is impossible to follow in a BMW, i have only seen a GTR keep up with one.

BUT, the rear wheel drive, 6mt bmw has to be pretty close to being just as much fun.

What could be good, is that the new GT3 is unbelievably awesome and the price of 997 GT3's goes down the toilet, please let this happen

That car, only a couple months, unless it is the car that had all the red bits painted that they had for a year.

Gulson's here in Canberra do consignment so get more proportionally on their floor than most dealers. When the $ are @ 200k I will be makin a move.

Perhaps Mk I RS is still the go for the long term keeper... the CL has always IMO been a gimmick.

All I can say is that I've driven at 70-80 laps on the track in a 1M, and a heck of a lot more in my highly modified track 135i, and if the owner even knows how to drive properly, you would see nothing but a dot in the distance! I can get GT3 down to 1:19s at Sandown. That has to be 4-5s less than 1M!

Pretty sure this car will make 997.2 prices go up.

Here's me chasing down a 997 GT3 RS that was totally stripped out and had motons. PCA advanced group.

My car was stock power and stock weight at the time (these days it... isn't )

944 in the video is LS swapped and gutted-- not slow either!
