I'm sure they will. The bulletin specifically states that CPO will be declined on any ECU box that has been modified with aftermarket components

regular schedule for BMW NA cof. calls?

Back to subject...

Hi Dan,

Do you have regular conf calls with BMW NA?

Might be nice to have a dedicated thread for collecting ideas and reporting results of these calls. Maybe even a sticky.

Also, at this point, maybe there should be a specific thread created for the possible BMW performance tune.

Seriously, what does the 3G adapter do? I replaced my old iPhone with the 3G and haven't driven my car since, do I need to replace something to make the audio work?

How? If you're careful enough, especially with a PnP, I don't see how it would show evidence of tampering?

I believe this is just referring to a better fitting cradle for the 3G (one where the phone actually snaps in.)

Heck if I know though because my iPhone 3G works fine: music, phone, everything. If you can live with it sitting in the small pouch under the center armrest then I don't believe you'll have anything to gain from a proper 'cradle', but I could be wrong...

I can't speak for Sales & Service, only for parts. The bulletin clearly states what aftermarket tuning will automatically decline the CPO Program. Like I said, I can't speak for Service, but they typically go over CPO's with a fine comb before allowing it to become CPO (hell, even scratches aren't fixed on bumper covers --- they just order new ones). Just, proceed with caution. As many say, you pay to play.

In conjunction with the iPhone 3G and not compatible with the iPhone Edge

Maybe my car didn't get this cradle, all I have is the pouch...

And I thought I knew everything about my little 1'er

Why would it to be difficult for BMW to design the car systems to sense modified signals? This is a classic electronic security problem that engineering teams have addressed for years.

I'm not saying that 1ers are built with tune-detection in their systems, but I wouldn't put it past a first-class engineering team to build a car that way. Especially a car in a market that is a magnet to tuners.
