Exclamation 12.3@117mph on pump with 3 mods? What?!

Took my 135i to PBIR last night to test out the Cobb Stage 2+ aggressive map and this is the only run that I had because I went there with no helmet like a boss . I am number 4037:

Name: Cobb stage 2+.jpg
Views: 34060
Size: 72.5 KB

Only mods that I have:
Cobb Stage 2+ Aggressive stock throttle
Helix FMIC
Raceland downpipes
1/4 tank of pump 93 octane from Shell
Everything else is stock: intake, catback, wheels, tires etc.

Boost peaked 18.5 and tapered off to about 13-14psi near redline (I shifted around 6200rpm or so).

It was cloudy and around 70 ish degrees last night.

boost at 18.5?? I am no tech but to me that sounds to aggressive and may end up damaging the turbos as well as damaging other engine parts or internals. My JB4 at 14 psi seems to do the trick for me and most cats running that high 18.5 of boost has meth.

18.5 psi at 4k rpms is not harmful to the turbo's or the engine. 18.5k rpms at redline is a different story. the stock td03 turbo's are probably safe to run up to 20 psi at lower rpms, as long as the boost tapers at redline, there are enough supporting mods, and octane is at least 93

Wow, 12.3 with just a tune and downpipes is damn impressive.
You say stock tires.
You mean factory stock? RFTs?
Cuz that's even more impressive.
That could be 11s with some 16" drag wheels with slicks.

I also have a Helix FMIC, but yes I ran that with the stock Bridgestone RFT's. I'll do you one better...

I technically didn't launch the car lol. I modulated the throttle off idle in 2nd gear.

With some drag tires and a good launch you have a 11 second car. Congrats

I know, I read that.
I left it out of the reply on purpose.

That's super impressive then with RFTs.
I wonder if your AP is making some kind of magical extra power, because that car really shouldn't be that fast =P

Ah fair enough. I got to tell you though, that FMIC really does keep my IAT's at bay. It netted me about 20whp throughout the whole rev range when I did the baseline with my stock intercooler.

And I know what you mean about the times, because I wasn't expecting to go anywhere near those times or traps on 93 octane. When I first saw this: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=594179 I didn't think it was possible doing that on pump gas as you'll see in the 3rd page and started some debates. Lets just say I shot myself in the foot last night when I pulled something similar but with less mods.

Impressive results! I suspect you're pretty good at the take off technique and quick shifts to be getting a 12.3 with only those mods! Nonetheless, thanks for sharing. What mods do you have planned next?

The 2.1 60' time suggests that there's a lot more potential in the car as it is and that with a 1.8 60' an 11 second pass is possible.
Cobb stage 2+ cars are now turning damn near FBO+ meth times/traps. It's only a matter of time until a full weight non-meth car runs an 11.

Hmm not really lol. I'm just an average joe who has gone to the drag strip 4 times in his life. It is my 3rd time with this car, and my first time with the Cobb Stage 2+.

Like rader1 stated, with a better 60ft, the car has the potential to break into the 11's easily, but I am holding that back because I am not a good driver.

Today I returned the AP to my friend who let me borrow it , so I will have to purchase another tune in a month or two when I am ready again (sold my jb4 a month ago).

In addition to your mods I am running a Maddad midpipe and exhaust and Apex Arc 8's

Damn impressive. Think my first mod might be the Helix FMIC. Either that alone, or was going to get the aFe dual CAI + TBS + Evolution Diverter Pipe w/ Tial Q BOV. Can't decide which route I want to go first though

Are you thinking of adding a dci?

Thanks man. I highly recommend the Helix FMIC especially if you live in an area that can get hot. I can't stress enough as to how much it helped keep my IAT's at bay even after continuous pulls.

Nope, I like my stock box just fine. You don't know how many times I've caught people off guard thinking its a stock car.
