Oil change interval

Does the car reset oil change schedule when you do intermediate oil change in between dealership service oil change?

ie say you do an oil change at 10000kms yourself, does the car automatically update if the sensor detects fresh, new oil to the next one to be at 35000kms (if scheduled oil change is at every 25000kms) or is it updated only at the dealership when they do the oil service?

Thanks guys.

Hey mate

No, the car doesn't self update. The service indicator would need to be reset.
So I leave it as is and get the regular scheduled services done by BMW ... As part of the free servicing.

haha this made me smile

As mentioned you have to physically reset the service indicator manually, you can do this yourself but since you're only doing intermediate oil changes diy (right?) as mentioned let bmw do the resets when its time for a dealer service.

Thanks gents.

I wasn't sure as I'm now just over 20000kms and the car says next oil change is due in 10000kms. I had 2000kms oil changed at dealership and 8000kms at Advan. Problem is I don't remember if I had a 15000kms oil change at the dealership. I can't imagine scheduled oil service is every 30000kms, way too long.

Is the scheduled oil services at every 15000kms for our N54 cars?

Regardless, look like I really should do another intermediate oil change at Advan this week.

Changing every 5-7k kms seems to be the way to go for these cars, especially if its your daily.

Nope fully diy!

Not to mention with an obd cable can fiddle with anything on these cars if you really wanted.

Do you guys let the dealer put their own oil in, or supply oil of choice?
