128i Battery Recall and DME Reflash :(

Guys,

Have any of you did the latest battery recall on their 128i ?

I did it last week and the dealer also reflashed the ecu....
Since, my car rides weird... my throttle response is great in high RPM's (above 4500) but below that it just feels like there is a delay.... I never had this feeling before. It is impossible to rev-match on a downshift from 3rd to 2nd lets say, I have simply no response in the throttle..
The most weird part is that I have PBX(BMS) installed and I still get the same feeling no matter what map is selected... I have even tried to disconnect the PBX completely.. same resulst
Have any of you experience this ?

Thanks alot

Never heard of a battery recall? My car was at the dealer a couple of days ago and they didn't mention it...

Battery recall is only for Canadian cars. I would go back and ask for another reflash. But it sounds like BMW has changed the way the engine behaves in their latest SW update for the 128i - just as they have "changed" the way the 135i SW feels with lousy throttle response. I would go back and complain.

I wonder why, though? I could see with the 135i that neutering output a little bit could perhaps limit the HPFP issue (just theorizing, con't know for sure...) but what possible reason could there be to limit the N52's throttle response?

the throttle response on the 128i(auto) is already bad enough

Yea.. what sucks for your 128i guys with this is... that BMW doesn't make a PPK1 software... so unless your dealer can reload the latest SW, I think your stuck with this new tune by BMW.

I believe i had this flashed too. Car became more tame after the flash. I am not too sure because at that point i had it about 2 weeks.

I think AA or other tuner flash is one way to wake up the beast from its slumber.

I hope they can crack the DISA valve for high HP levels. Most of the good German tuners can get 270 PS out of a 125i(128i) with just a SW flash tune. But they charge 900 euros or so.

I will start by insisting to the dealer to reflash it back to what it was.... I don't care I will keep the old, smaller battery...
If I would of knew that it will become like that I would of never did this update...
Even my BMS PBX is not helping with this upgrade, unless I really have some other problems with the car...

Guys, I just realized that the throttle response is great when the speed is over 100km/h...

I don't understand anymore... I have no check engine

Check out sprint booster. Eliminates all throttle lag.

I have the BMS PBX installed and before the dealer reflash everything was great, but now I have that delay in the throttle even with the BMS ON... So I'm not sure if it is simply throttle response related...

Is this a generic tune or done in real time on the dyno?

Battery recall? I know that when I had my 128 (2010) at the dealership last year they informed me that I needed a new battery due to the recall and the corresponding software update to accept the new battery.

There were also a couple other things that I can't remember right now, and I don't have the paperwork handy ATM.

For the performance with the new battery, I've found it delivered what it promised (increased electrical capacity - lovely to have in the winter). Software doesn't seem to have messed up anything.

So here is the latest update :
I brought back the car to the dealer and they found out that my fan was not working ... they've ordered the fan to realize that the problem is not the fan but the DME .
So now they've ordered a new DME and I have to wait 2 weeks for it to arrive
