The Elise is go-cartish, not the 1M (or any BMW for that matter). I find it funny that people compare the 1M Coupe to a go-kart. It's only a go-kart relative to the 7 series.

0-100kph was done in 4.7 seconds, 0-200kph in 17.2 seconds.
0-200kph seems a bit slow??

depends on your definition for slow... my friend's C180 does 0-100kph in 15.5s and we couldn't make it reach 200kph so...

8:15 matches the E85 M Roadster pretty good for a coupe, but was expecting more from the power available. Both cars are close in weight.

Put some sticky rubber on those wheels, and reflash the ECU and you'll have a monster! The M3 probably has nothing on the 1M in the straights, if anything it would be the other way around.

One thing to remember about track times is the difference between drivers, track conditions like temperature, tire pressure wind speed, traffic on the Ring since it's a public road etc etc etc.
Overall a very impressive result for the 1M. Now if only the Queen of the Ring could give it a go!

The Renault time is pretty amazing, on meh bridgestones too. If I were BMW I would make it a point to drive faster. I mean really? trashed by a 265HP FWD Renault? LOL

Yes, but it does have AWD. It is also very light with the same power as the 1M. And that car does cost 10k more. but yes, impressive.

As far as I’m concerned, the only true M engine is the turbocharged, 1.5 liter inline-4 M12 that propelled Nelson Piquet to his 2nd WDC, because it’s still the only BMW engine that has won a title in F1.

All these comparisons don't really matter tbh.
The 1M production is one year. All allocations are/will probably be taken. It will be sold out. Doesn't matter if you buy one or not, someone else already did/will.

As a former owner of the E92 M3 and now owner of the 1M, I can confirm what you write. Both are great cars in their respective ways. The GT-like feeling of the E92 is great for long distances also. I have never really tested it on the N-Ring, altough just an hour drive away from where I live. So far I have not driven( and will probably not do so) the 1M on the N-Ring. On the streets and for daily use, the 1M is for sure the much more pleasant and funny car. Its phenomenal torque and ultra-quick response is so overwhelming and makes it the car it is.
In any event, neither of the two reaches the E46 CSL (still in my garage) but again, neither the E92 M3 nor the 1M should be compared with the CSL. |
