It does look good. I agree with BMWRX... some of the cars do look cartoony. In any case - looking forward to it.

Slightly OT- did any of you see the competition that was run using a 370Z on GT5P? Pretty cool idea IMO.

I bought a PS3 the week it came out just to play this... been a long wait! Managed to get into the top5 and even #1 position in a lot of the Drift cars on the demo when it came out.

I can't watch the video posted, but I have seen the previews of the game and not sure what 'cartooniness' you guys are talking about? When viewed in HD they are immaculate!

Maybe I'm expecting a bit much, but I would have thought by now that the cars would be near on akin to watching television coverage of a real life race.

it's the 'uncanny valley', it's a term used in animation when things are too perfect, so they are in between being obviously fake, and having imperfections that make them look real.

GT5 is going to want to be good, Driving sims (particularly on PC) have come a VERY long way since GT4, and the expectations for GT5 are going to be immense. I suspect a lot of people are getting beyond caring now too, it's been delayed so many times. I hope it's good (and doesn't feel like driving a hovercraft like the previous GT's), but it is going to need to be VERY good....

you need to watch the clip in 1080p on a high resolution HD computer to get the full effect. looks epic.

I watched it in HD during the E3 coverage of the Sony press conference. It looks pretty good but common, do you really think it's comming out? I think that they'll need to spend an extra year or two making sure that the exhaust on the 50 different Honda civics sounds spot on

Seriously, I think I need to be in a full on simulator to enjoy driving games now. Although, it does look exceptionally good, it has been a long time since I was addicted to GT2.

yeah i can see this game being delayed for a few more years... but when it does come out.... one day.... i know it'll be the best game we've seen for years and it'll be the only game we'll play for a long time. i'm pumped for it.

You realise, now that Sony is releasing the Move around september or so, Polyphonal will have to put GT5 into a total code rewrite to take advantage of the device. Expect a release mid 2011.

I wish I could say the above was sarcasm but it will probably be true.

Personally, I've given up on the series and will have to demo it on someone elses console before I buy a copy because after a 6 year wait it better be damn good.

decided it was worth a shot, so i just spent:
$325 - Logitech G27
$350 - 120GB PS3
$150 - PlayTV (to justify the PS3 with the wife)
$50 - GT5

almost $900 and that doesn't include the custom cockpit i'll be building too... but it'll be worth it.
