automatic wipers

Does the automatic wipers & rain sensor need to be activated with each use, or should it be able to be set and retain that setting? Anyone have experience with this feature yet?

Once you push the "A" button on the wiper stalk, it will remain in auto rain-sensing mode until you push it again deactivating it.

Is it just me, or is the sensitivity too high?

I've got it 'turned down' to the minimum and it still wipes too often. I don't think it can tell the difference between small and large drops ... maybe it can only sense the number of drops and not their size?

Yup...It can't tell the difference between large and small drops. The way it works is the sensor just measures how much rain is blocking the rain sensor.

If you take a spray bottle and spray a large amount of fine mist vs. a stream pattern out of one squeeze discharging the same amount of water, the wipers will wipe at a similar speed.

Our dealer advised not to get rainsensor because it's really not suitable for winter driving here in Finland. I've heard similar comments from various people who have it.

Of course, it can be turned off but whats the point anyway, too lazy people? It's not even a safety feature, IMO.

Mine seems to default to 'off' when i start my car, even if it was on before switching off the engine. Can this be changed?

Yup...mine defaults to off when shutting off the car. I think this is to prevent any accident in a car wash.
