Please please please be careful out there
My friend died last night.
It's actually a bit strange to post this to a bunch of people I mostly don't know, but I don't think I can clearly express myself to those I do know at the moment. For those the Victorians, you might have heard or read about an accident that occurred on Canterbury Rd last night at around 7pm involving a black Honda and a man in his 20's. He was my friend. He was a car nut in all sense of the term. We were planning take our cars to Tasmania on the Spirit and explore the roads there. Without knowing the exact circumstances of the accident yet, I cannot say for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if a bit of excess speed was involved, knowing him. I still believe he was a competent driver, and certainly not a hoon, but please don't think that just because you are skilled, that that is always enough to get you safe home at the end of the day. Please, please PLEASE be careful guys. Don't be so selfish to put your life in danger. Slow down and make it back ok, especially when the roads are wet under uncontrolled conditions. If not for you, but for everyone else that will miss you. |

Liub,
Very sorry to hear that mate, nothing can prepare anyone for such a sudden loss. I recall last year I got a phone call while at work in the morning and turned out my Uncle had wiped his brand new Ducati into an embankment near Obi Obi in QLD. Luckily, very luckily, he managed to hold on and survived (still in rehab). Even then, nothing prepares you for it. Best wishes bud. |

What a terrible and sad tragedy. My thoughts are with the family and his friends. What you say is very true and i agree with 100%. When i was younger, as most around that age, I thought it would never happen to me. As you get older these things really hit home and you are definitely more wary of what you do and what others around you are doing. No one is invincible and bad things do happen to every day people. I count my blessings and never take it for granted that i have stayed out of harms way.

Awful, awful news, and such a young life to waste. So many die on our roads each year, but until you're connected to a victim, it carries little weight. My heart goes out to you and your friend's family.

Liub, sorry to hear about your friend, it must have been very difficult for you. It sent chills down my spine every time I hear about something like this, as it reminded me the phone call I got from the hospital about my brother accident, and the six hours waiting while he was in surgery, not knowing if he's going to make it or not. His car was split in half at the accident.
May God looks over you and his family during this tough time.

My condolences to you, Liub.
If you don't mind the suggestion, perhaps organising a run to Tasmania sometime in the future in honour of your friend would be worth considering? |

Liub that's bad news to get.
If anyone's seen the current TAC ad campaign, showing real life family members and how everybody is effected, that's been filmed locally and it's pretty hard to watch, again even though I do not personally know any involved. sympathy to you Luib.

Condolences to you. A timely reminder that we all have a great weight of responsibility on our shoulders when we get behind the wheel of what is a lethal weapon.
