DP dilemma
i have a set of catless downpipes ive been waiting to install, but now im haveing reservations. id love to go FBO but the hassle of changing out the downpipes every year for emissions just seems like much. is there anyway to have the DME in a readniess state without installing stock downpipes, or putting in a BMS DP fix? i just dont want to get killed with labor rastes twice a year to install then uninstall the downpipes.
Also what WHP figures could one expect if he protunes his car with just a FMIC, chargepipe, and drop in filter?

I spoke with Allen from ptf on here. I also am keeping stock downpipes on because of emissions here in Illinois. He said even with factory down pipes u can get an additional 15-30whp with a protune.

If not, all you need is a DP fix to pass emission. In terms of performance gains and lowering back pressure on your turbos there is no comparison between stock and catless.

Car is new, so I'm sure I'll be going in for service a handful of times plus emissions. After helping and watching my bro with his 335 n54 doing downpipes and other mods every time he went in for service... Not sure if I want to go through that hassle. I can deal with the axle back and intake. Going to get jb4 soon and I think that's reasonable. My reasoning is, after my cpo I think I'll do dp and fmic. From what I know of, you'll still get good gains with stock dp. |

In the UK we have an annual inspection; probe stuck up the exhaust type. Unless you go the illegal route and find a shop that'll stick the probe up the pipe of another car then it's a massive pain and usually they want some cash thrown their way.
I chose to have 200cell catted mid-pipes instead for all the FBO power (ok, maybe -2whp vs. catless, if anything) and peace of mind all year round. |

I've heard your not suppose to leave a DP fix in for a long time because it will affect fuel trims?

true you only install it to pass emission then remove it.
