Is there any way to fit 4 full tires in the 135i and keep 1 of the back seats free?

Need to transport my set of wheels/tires while I also keeping one of the back seats free for a dog carrier where the dog will ride. Is there any way to tetris them into the car where this is still possible?

Thanks!

Are the tires mounted on the wheels?

Depends on tire sizes, if you're transporting 17" winters you might be able to get away with dropping the bigger side of the seat, one tire in the back and stacking 3 high on the dropped seat? Depends how far up you can sit in front of the dropped seat though....18" will be tougher, although you'd put one of the rears in the trunk and then 2x fronts and 1x rear on the dropped seat...

I once loaded 4 new tires and 4 wheels (18 in) into my coupe. The tires weren't mounted. There would not have been room for a dog carrier. I had the back seat backs folded down. I had to use the front seat for a couple of tires.

I just ordered new tires to go on a set of Arc-8 wheels. When it's install time, I will need to take the wheels to the tire shop (Costco) and then bring the old stock wheels/tires home with me in the car. With the seats down, I think I can get two or three of them in the trunk/back seat, and one or two in the front passenger seat. Not sure it could be done while leaving one of the rear seats available for a doggy passenger.

Worse comes to worst, I could probably leave all or some of them there for a couple of hours while I go home and get my trusty, little Subaru Baja.

The trick is you don't put the seats down... I was able to squeeze 2 tires in the trunk and stack/ put side by side behind the passenger seat if I moved it up... that would leave you the seat behind the drive and and passenger seat but pushed up.

Story time:
This reminds me of my road trip I did with my brother... he has an M2comp and bought a set of apexes from virgina (we're from wisconsin). We roatriped out there and picked up the wheels/ tires. We had an appointment ready at a local Discount tire and threw them on right away. As for the stock wheels and tires, we crammed one in the trunk and 3 on the back seats. Not only did we roadtrip back home with me folded like origami, we swung by the tail of the dragon and did some spirited driving. A very eventful and uncomfortable road trip.

A tire is able to fit in the front passenger seat without issue? Doesn't get in the way of the shifter or anything? Have you confirmed this?

Also wondering how safe having a bunch of tires in the car would be in case of an accident. Would they likely go flying around and I would meet a certain death?
