Why does the n52 get ZERO mod love? Looking for CAI/tune for 128i

Have been eyeing cold air intakes (CAI) by BMS, Injen, and aFe, seems that a majority of the CAI are for n54/55?!

I was able to find one from aFe, I think?, but everyone seems to say, based on my Googles, that the aFe seems to be bad with heat sink...Injen only seems to have them for e54/55's

The BMS CAI's seem to get great reviews, but again, nothing for n52 specfically, but the specifications have indicated on some that I looked for 1 series models...

I know that the CAI discussion has been beat to death in a lot of cases, but this is specifically for n52/e82 models...

TIA!!!

Don't bother with a cold air on this motor. Sounds great but not really any gains to be had.

Also look in the 128i engine section lol

Also probably because cost to benefit ratio from mods on your platform is awful. Seriously, save your money on any engine mods. Do suspension

There is a lot of support to it but power do not come as easy as N54/55 understandably, you just need to go to the right section like this one http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=35

CAI itself doesn't do much. Try 3-stage manifold and MILVs for a start.

Suspension, brakes and a software tune = a very fun daily with fun track and some easy peace of mind. That is why i went for the 125i instead of the 135i.

Coming from a 310 hp Golf R, i kind of miss the boost that kicks in, but the short wheelbase of the E82 in combination with an instant responding engine that keeps making power to redline (unlike turbos that die off in the top end) is much more rewarding (to me anyways, since everything is turbocharged, nice to move away from power and focus on actually driving).

If you really really want to, you can get a 3 stage intake manifold and tune that as well, saw some guys touch 290-300 hp (flywheel/engine)with that setup.

I am starting with suspension myself when i get the car service end of this month. Since the car is 95% daily driven i got my eyes on the Bilstein B12 pro kit and the M3 rear subframe bushing. Down the road i will do sway bars and front M3 control arms/tie rod ends (maybe) and a LSD. Software tuning from 217hp to 275hp will come after the suspension, i am for more confidence inspiring setup/fun daily and track weekend machine.

Zombie_Head looking at the 3 stage manifold, maybe next year, just dropped some coin on new wheels and tires, and a tune from Turner motorsport. I have read that the 330i intake is the way to go, and pretty much is the end of the road for the n52 engine.

Thank you desertman123 I am highly likely going to stay away from CAI, I ordered a silicon intake boot, arrived today, and going to drop K&N and CF and be donezo, I'll prolly get some air scoops next month.

Waste of money, too. The intakes at the front of the car are already in a high pressure zone.

Edit: Waste of money unless you're buying for looks.
