So I was watching Barrett-Jackson and Bob Varrsa mentions during the bidding on a 2005 Ford GT that he only knows of 3 cars built since 2000 that have gone up in value. One was a Ford GT. The one on TV sold new for about $100,000; today at auction sold for $550k.

The other two he mentioned?
BMW Z8
And
BMW 1M.

Thats pretty cool we got some press. Dont think its true though. i8, gt3 4.0, host of ferraris.

i wouldn't count the i8 yet as it's still suffering from 'dealer mark-up'...i think it takes a couple years to see the true depreciation. The same thing happened to the Audi R8 when it was introduced...then prices fell! I do agree about the GT3 4.0 though.....it started at what $200k? last i saw one selling for over $300k.

the 1M is definitely the most attainable sureshot classic though.....in terms of pricing.

apparently there was an i8 at barrett jackson...it sold for $140k.

Im waiting to try and buy a cayman gt4 as im sure that will be the same with regards to value..

While I am also waiting to get a GT4 I strongly doubt they will do anything other than deprecate like a normal Porsche.

For starters, I'm pretty sure Porsche will sell as many as they can make so there will be plenty of them on the market. They also will suffer from "hard miles" that the vast majority of P-Cars (rightfully) go through in their first 3 years of life. You don't drop 911 money on a Cayman and baby it, most used car buyers know this.

How's the value on the Boxster Spyder doing?
I'd love one if those but its not practical anywhere especially in Portland.

That's simply amazing that a Barrett-Jackson commentator would mention the 1M in that company. Even after almost 4 years this car is still amazing.

It is such an amazing ride. There is a thread on rennlist where some is asking input whether to get a 1M vs 997 TT. Impressive company!

It's really different though in some part of the countries..
prices goes up in the US,
here in Indonesia, they tend to stay still..
but now we are starting to face depreciations.. not to mention how people are so excited of the new M2, can't really tell what's going to happen. i guess we'll see.
but after all it really is a special car.
