Many thanks Emmdrei for the info on the steering wheel. It's refreshing to read information from someone who actually races and therefore thinks about what is important to them on the car as opposed to the many show ponies who just want to look like racers. Still, to each his / her own. Wanting to look like a racer is why BMW produce cars like the 1M for us so I should be grateful.
How is the pedal set up for heel and toe? In my drives of the E92 M3s I find the throttle pedal too far forward of the brake pedal. Okay for hard, read very hard, braking but awkward for slower street driving where you are trying for smoothness at lower speeds, particularly with the M3's grabby brakes. I like a pedal that you have to mash a bit. I think that what they are saying regarding the safety of a 4 point in the event of a roll over and roof collapse without a roll cage is that you can move to the side and out of the way , or even be pushed out of the way of the roof with a 3 point lap sash whereas you can't with a 4 point. |

I love it in black. Thanks for sharing the pics. The carbon rear spoiler is perfectly suited for the 1M's aggressive body.

What a nice car, congrats. I was thinking to myself - car like 1M deserves bucket seats, and than I see this pictures. Just the way I like it, pure performance, no compromises.

My only question is, why would you spend the extra money and get the heated seats and all that if you were going to switch out the seats? Or do these ones heat up as well?

If you purchase with heated seats, it will have the module to support aftermarket seats that have heated seats feature.

You are wise to change the seats from the start. I am finding the standard seats to be the most disappointing aspect of my M1. I would love to get the same seats as you. The only problem is they are not easily available in the US. If you don't mind me asking, how difficult were they to install? Was it a matter of bolting them in and connecting the air bag and passenger occupancy sensor? Or was some reprogramming of the onboard computer necessary? Do they even have the passenger occupancy sensor in the passenger seat?
I am also beginning to understand your unhappiness with the stock tires. I don't have much experience with PS2s in the wet. But in every discussion I read of the new Michelin Super Sports, they comment on how much better they are in the wet. To me this suggests the PS2s had significant room for improvement in the wet. Unfortunately, the alternatives are limited right now. Hopefully that will change. |

Thanks for the reply EmmDrei. Glad the brakes are good - I think it should be more than adequate my monthly track day. Do steel braided brake line significantly help feel?

I hate the black grill surround on this car. It just looks like a dark, blobby mess. Black wheels would make it even worse. Cars aren't designed a single dark color for a reason. Not just because it's tasteless, but because an all black car loses all of its edges. It turns into a dark blob with no sharpness or contrast. |

The harnesses are TUV approved, not every installation. That install puts the angle out the back of the seat to low. It would be acceptable if the drivers shoulders were below the hole where the belt came through the seat, but few are that short. In the current configuration it will hyper compress the spine in the event of a collision. It isn't hard to tell...what do you think is going to happen when the harness going over his shoulder suddenly pulled forward by a 180 lb mass continuing forward when the car stops instantly in a 60 mph collision? It HAS to be pulled taut, meaning down on the shoulder. No more than 20 degrees downward angle off the shoulders according to Schroth.
