If you buy one it will fit, however you need to make sure it came from a car with the same options as yours.

If the car had USB you will loose your AUX port.
If the car had HIFI you will get very low volume, around 25% quieter.
If the car had L7 (DSP) you will get no sound at all as the analogue outs are switched off and it is sent via MOST BUS.
If you have a CD changer you will loose that too as the prof radio uses the most bus again instead of analogue.

So you need to make sure it came from a base model ideally to make it truly plug and play, if not you will need to code it.

I have changed to a brand new pro radio, it works ok but i have lost mu AUX in. The dealer cant program it either since my car dont have most.

You need to loop the most bus with an optical cable also.

Tell them they need to code it through SSS, the car doesn't need MOST to code it at all.
If you add Prof. radio and no other options to your car you a car with no most network installed.

If you needed the most loop then your radio came from a car with USB.

If it was brand new they had to code it anyway, so they are talking crap.

The SSS is the "software service station" they use this to code your car or code individual modules on your car rather than coding it through the CIP upgrade path which updates everything.

Most dealers will use the MOST connector to do the coding as it is much quicker, but they can code through the OBD port using an OPPS head, it will code your radio no problem and they should know this being a main dealer.

It may be worth trying to find a local garage who has the Autologic Diagnostic system, they will code it in 20 mins for you and with a lot less hassle, the BMW techs are just button pushers these days, they read a manual and follow the instructions, if it isn't in the manual they just end up standing around scratching their heads and coming to the conclusion "it can't be done."

Strange, since it looked brand new. (The production date was just e couple of months before i got it also) But thanks for the help! I will call my dealer and some local shops today. Probably will do this when it is going in for service in 2k km.

Do you know if i can add ipod connection to this also? Should I then order the one for business so it dont have most?

I'm not sure, you need the MULF2 module, this does bluetooth and USB/Ipod.

However, I'm not sure what the score is with the wiring kit, whether you need most in the car already or you can go straight into the head unit and then code.
I am going to speak to someone tomorrow who does know and has done it. I will let you know.

They agreed to try once their server is back. But they were sceptical..
Also they didnt use SSS anymore sice it was an old system. The system they used now was ISSS and he was unsure how he could trick the system to belive that it could program the Pro radio... It supposedly only had locked programs that couldnt be altered?
Seems like i need to find a place with the Autoteck then?

If you had a faulty pro radio and it needed replacing, they would have to add aux, they do talk some crap these dealers.

No, not unless you had ordered something that needed most.

Here you go, order the ISIS 3G system and code the thing yourself!!

I was down at the dealer again now. They dont have the old SSS/zip anymore. Only ISSS. Apperently the cars delivered with professional (no most) have a main program in the car from the factory, and when isss is connected through obd it will not find the pro radio if you dont have that. He would try next week, but belive it would not work. Non of the service stations around here belive that they could do it either.. Sucks! Maybe ill just ship the car over to you?

Also he was talkin about that thy needed to get an unlocking/activation code from bmw in germany to add retrofits, and it is no retrofit available for e82/e90 pro radio.:S

You should ask them to change the vehicle order.
The vehicle order is a file that stores what options are installed, you can check each one and tell the car if it is aktiv or not, they are stored in frm and the cas if a local autologic dealer opens these files and tells your car it has radio prof and aux it will adapt on reboot.

Your autologic dealer can upload the file and autologic will adapt it and send it back to them for upload.

This shows how easy it is to change the Vehicle Order......
