Rain sensing wiper problems

I've recently purchased a new E90 325i SE.

It has rain-sensing wipers, but no intermittant wipe like my old E46.

Sometimes the auto wipers seem to adapt fairly well to the rain, but other times they either operate too much or too little.

Might not be such a problem if I could get the sensitivity adjuster on the wiper stalk to actually make a diference. I've tried moving around, in different rain conditions, but I can never perceive a difference in wiper frequency for given rain level.

Has anybody else had this problem, or know the solution?

Is anyone aware of a BMW technical note on the subject?

I've been experiencing the same exact problem.

During the only instance so far of light rain after getting my E90, I tried using the wipers in auto mode. However, I was unable to adjust their sensitivity/frequency using the adjusting knob on the stalk. It seemed to have no effect at all on the wipers.

I'm waiting for more rain before I determine whether to involve the dealer.

I find they work better during the day then at night. At night they seem like they aren't sensitive enough.

it seems that the usa speced cars seem to have an issue with rain sensor wipe frequency. the sensitivity knob doesnt seem to work either. there are other threads worth reading here.

mine is quite ok and does a great job. if you are not happy with the setting, see what your dealers service department has to say.

welcome aboard and all the best.

Mine is fine but I wish there was an option like "auto defog"...Would that be possible?
