theres no shots of the side to show how bad the chassis is damaged.
I wonder if it can be properly repaired to drive correctly. From the pics the right rear guard seems slightly bent. And I wonder if a BMW approved repairer would even want to touch it.

The last one (orange one in QLD) first went for 69000-ish, then fell through, then went up for auction again the next week and sold for 49500, or somewhere around there. This was back in Jan this year. That one had all airbags still intact, but some side panel damage, and a lot of under-carriage damage (it mounted a gutter sideways). I actually got in touch with the previous owner to discuss further (as I could not view the car without jumping on a plane), and he listed all the damage to me. Needed new rear subframe, diff, half shaft, 2 wheels, 2 hubs, controls arms, struts and a lot of other things. Ordered off Schmiddeman, I calculated about 25k worth of parts (including shipping). EDIT: about 10k, not 25k worth of parts Only the superficial damage to the side of the vehicle was immediately obvious in the photos, and both times the winning bidder was online, which makes me think that they did not know about all the undercarriage damage, at least definitely in the first instance. This one *looks* like it would be a cheaper repair than the first one, but the first one *looked* like a cheap repair too (from the photos), even cheaper than this one, but clearly it wasn't. Hope this helps. Last edited by Kkuba; 05-06-2014 at 11:43 PM.. Reason: Error |

It was 25k worth of parts according to the quote which the insurance company gave the previous owner. |

$50k buy with $10k in parts to repair isn't as terrible a deal as it first sounded...
probably find plenty of parts from ebay uk if desired, too. |

imo it would need to be repaired and on the road sub 55k. The resale will take a hard hit as it will be listed as a repairable write off. Would you buy a 1M listed as rwo? I wouldn't unless it was going to be a pure toy as a track car.

Most purchasers/repairers of RWO, are bought for the sole reason of resale, so they will allways cut corners with repairs IMO. |

Can a RWO handle track work without getting out of shape?

LOL wtf why? Im asking a pretty reasonable question. Chassis flex heaps on the track so how is it hard to imagine something that was bent pretty badly and bent back not flex properly on the track and stay straight after repeated use?
FYI Lotus recommend that once their cars have chassis damage you do not bother repairing them.
