For example, the RGR has a decent fitment for a rear 18" and a 17" that might work nice but no real good way to put an 18" on the front. I just think it's a stretch.

For those wanting a great and light 17" wheel, the BBS RK is a great choice. Will it fit? Here's what BBS says when I asked would the RK fit the 135i (E82)...
the BBS RK001 will fit your new BMW. Kind regards, Kathrin Prowasnik Area Manager Aftermarket BBS International GmbH

Yes, aggressive negative camber would help tuck the front setup under the fender. My 'test' was with stock alignment settings and I was being conservative as I really hate 'rubbage' on a street wheel/tire setup. Plus there may be a mild drop in the car's future, so I wanted to have some room.

Correct. It's nice that these "experts" seem to be confident in what they're passing on, but I'd like to know someone has actually fitted a set. The RK001 would be a great wheel. They always look fantastic on the first gen M3. Very light and very reasonably priced. Would make a great winter wheel as well.

Too agressive for my taste. Maybe for a track wheel.

On my 130i race car we have 8x18 et34 back with 2 degree camber. It fits but more is not possible then you will rub the outside fenders.
Front 8x18 et34 with 10mm spacer and 5degrees camber. It fits. These low ET values wil only fit if you use youre car for racing with lots of camber dailed in. |

I don't know whether to believe what BBS is telling me!:
for your car we recommend the RS909 (8.5x18; ET38) for the front and the RS957 (9.5x18, ET40) for the rear. Kind regards, Kathrin Prowasnik Area Manager Aftermarket BBS International GmbH e-mail: prowasnik.kathrin@bbs.com phone: +49 (0) 7836 52-1152 fax: +49 (0) 7836 52-1140 |

I tried 17X8.5 with 38mm offset and 245-40 PS2s and they were pretty good. I'm going to try them again now that I Remove the factory alignment pins in the front an got a little more neg camber. I think with the extra neg camber and a little more neg camber from a set of H&R sport springs and that offset will be perfect.
but the 9.5 wide with 40 mm offset will definitely be out the fender. I've tried 9 wide with 45 mm offset and that was stretching it. |

Here's a 130 with the RS-GT
http://www.flickr.com/photos/exdesigner/352869283/ And some more: http://www.autoforum.be/showthread.php?t=24510&page=23 Also with an LM at the top of the thread. Although the RS-GT is the nicer wheel in terms of detailing -- when you're just looking at close-ups of the wheel -- the huge lip is just too big for a car as narrow as the one. Now, on a nice 911, whew, I'm there. In contrast, here's a GSR on an S2000 (similar proportions): http://www.socal28.com/s2k/s2k_rgr_pp_lf2.jpg HOT!! |

the RG-R, and RS-GT are my favorites. I think the RG-R will give it a really clean 1-pc look... simply classic

Yes, the RG-R's would be great......if we could freaking get some sizes that'll work on the 1. So far, I don't see anything that'll work on the front, unfortunately.
