it goes back to the first day we bought the car and my wife said to me, " it has a smaller butt then the other bimmers we have had" so it stuck with the car! a.k.a. the Tiny Hinny

"Little Red Bitch"
it's small, red, and in the beginning was a real bitch, (hpfp issues and just plain disappointment in the car.... I wanted it to be my Little Red Beast....and beast is something this car simply isn't, even with my suspension and tuning work...so bitch stuck) That beast role has now been filled but it's "the Yellow Beast"

I'm pretty sure everyone loves vettes, most people just can't past the stigma of it being a mid life crisis or a toy for a kid with rich parents that will soon be in a ditch.
I was looking at a used red c6 for the same price I paid for my 135i...but I think I went with the better option. |

Funny that you say something like that. People look at me (I have a baby face) and see my car and think the same thing.

While I appreciate Corvettes for their performance, as well as their position as the definitive American supercar, I can't quite bring myself to "like" them, per se. But enjoy it in good health.

Again I say minus the stigma of the people that own vettes, whats not to love about a high horse power car that is sexy and has decent handling for an american car? with a few suspension upgrades they look pretty nice at autocross and on the track.

also as previously mentioned absolutely huge, and not that attractive to me in the least in terms of styling. |

ya, i personally don't love the styling either, nor the middle aged stigma (i'm 36 now)...but when i was looking for something just plain ridiculous nothing came close on price, i looked at a 996 gt3 for 60k, a modena 360 for 80k, and an r8 at 100k. All awesome cars, but i just didn't want that kind of money sitting in the garage.
So I bought this car, long tube headers, full exhaust, procharger with full fuel system upgrades and a dyno tune (565 rwhp). All work at a reputable shop, all with receipts, all installed on the car from 2400-3200 miles, i purchased it with 4200 miles (yes 4k miles). Mind you it's an 05, but i paid 32k for the car. You can't beat that value. Also, i agree the car's bigger, but it's not much. it's like 3" longer and 3" wider, but 7" lower. But it feels wayyyyy bigger than that. The seats are terrible, steering feel is poor, compared to the 135 and compared to previous BMWs (zhp, M roadster, e36 m3) downright dismal, and the dash and trim is more than a bit cheap. However, it's got comfort access included, and my car is loaded so its got everything my 1 has except the rain sensing wipers plus it's got a heads up display which while not all that cool looking is very functional and much better than the HUD on my 135... Also, handling is pretty damn amazing, you can push it and it just holds on, long after the 135 is rolling it's front end over (even with my mods). However, it's scary as you approach the limit. The c6 chassis is good, but it's not easy to use everything it has to offer. Meaning, for you guys who drive the 135 and fear the TIMYOYO; don't even think about a vette. I grew up on a steady diet of high powered cars with 1 stability control system (me); so the vette is fun. Plus at least the vette has a real lsd and lets you turn off the traction control while still leaving the stability control on. In the end i love the V8 roar, and brutal power, it's the mr. hyde to my 135.

Isn't that what pushing the DTC button once does; disables DTC but keeps DSC engaged? Whereas if you held it down for 3 seconds, it would disable both DTC and DSC.

not in my car. jump on it in dtc and it will still hold you back. it's less intrusive but still very prevalent. the best way to launch is fully off.

dont disagree, but tap turns off DTC and hold turns off everything. DSC will probably still hold you back. Thats begs the questions what the difference is really... don't care cuz = 24/7!

Our 135's have decent handling, not great. The overall length could be shorter, imo. There's a lot of real estate up front as seen from the drivers seat, which is way back. I hear, and hope, the new Vette will be smaller and lighter, although it's not heavy to begin with. For me, and I think many others, the interior is what holds back more sales of the Vette. Again, the new Vette will get a much improved and modern interior, or so we're told. I do believe it. The current interior screams GM design before the bail out. GM's since the bail out have nice to very nice interiors. Even the smaller and less costly Cruze has a very nice, modern interior that shocked me when I first saw it. The new interiors are a 180 degree departure from the design language GM used to have. The Malibu interior as well is quite nice. However, the new Malibu has a redesigned interior, which I don't think is better than the one it's replacing. I digress though. I don't name my cars. My first car got a nickname/name from my friends in high school. They called it the "gray ghost". It was a 1971 Chevy Biscayne sedan with a 1 barrel carb, inline 6 cylinder, 4.1 liter (250ci). I learned a lot about the basic's of auto technology with that car. |
